Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

ISW, 27 April 2023

“Key Takeaways

The Russian military command appears to be reshuffling the leadership of command organs associated with force generation, sustainment, and logistics.

The three command organs that are reportedly receiving new leadership as part of this reshuffle are noteworthy because they are associated with managing aspects of Russian force generation, troop sustainment, and logistical oversight.

Western officials expressed confidence in Ukraine’s ability to conduct a successful counteroffensive.

Russian forces are reportedly using new tactics to complicate Ukrainian air defenses’ ability to detect Russian missiles. (Russian forces directed the missiles using different terrain features, different heights of launches, and multiple trajectory changes to complicate their detection by Ukrainian air defenses... ISW previously assessed that Russia’s missile campaign to degrade Ukraine‘s unified energy infrastructure definitively failed and that Russian forces appear to have abandoned the effort. Russian forces maintain the capability to renew their missile campaign if they desire)

Chechen Republic Head Ramzan Kadyrov appears to have launched a renewed campaign for national attention.

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin met with Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu and Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani in New Delhi, India on April 27.

Russian forces conducted defensive operations in the Kupyansk direction and limited ground attacks near Kreminna.

Russian forces did not make any confirmed gains in or around Bakhmut but may be transferring additional reserves to the Bakhmut area.

Russian forces continued offensive operations along the Avdiivka-Donetsk City line.

Russian forces are further militarizing the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to defend against possible Ukrainian counteroffensive operations.

The Washington Post reported that leaked US intelligence documents state that Russian military leaders aim to enlist 815,000 soldiers while balancing concerns about critical labor shortages.

Ukrainian partisans conducted three separate attacks in occupied territories on April 26-27.

What article? Your pro-Russia source doesn’t link to an article and I didn’t see a title of the article.

You wrote a fake title and pretended you were posting a Politico article?

Why not just post the Politico article?

Because that's not what the Politico article says.

Biden’s team fears the aftermath of a failed Ukrainian counteroffensive

Basically a rehash of all the other articles saying Ukraine's counter offensive might not produce a decisive result, and that if it does not, the USA might push Ukraine to seek a negotiated end to the war.

If Ukraine's offensive fails as badly as Russia's winter offensive, they are in trouble. They don't necessarily need to sever the land bridge to Crimea, but they certainly need to make significant gains, as in thousands of sq kilometers that include some strategically significant objectives.

Maybe "digging trenches" is a euphemism for "shagging sheep", since you're a lot more likely to get anthrax from the latter.

My earlier prediction: I hope UKR achieves a 90% to 95% or higher shoot down rate.

Here's a report from NOEL:

https://twitter.com/NOELreports/status/1651828532312514562

During an attack overnight, 21 out of 23 cruise missiles and 2 drones were shot down.

By my calculation, that equates to 91%.

Speedy...please include in today's update.

The 2 missiles that weren’t shot down targeted a 9 story apartment building in Uman and killed 10 civilians at last count.

This attack was strange. In the winter attacks, Russia had been launching an a wave of Iranian drones about 2 hours prior to the cruise missiles launches. This time, no Iranian drones were launched in advance. They just sent the missiles on their own. So Ukrainian air defenses were able to focus on the cruise missiles and as a result, the 91% shoot down rate this time.

Given 2 missiles were sent against a single apartment building, I would wager the missiles that were shot down were also targeting apartment buildings with this attack. This was a sour grapes attack by Putin and nothing more.

What’s telling is that Putin has attacked Mykolaiv 2 nights in a row with $1-$2 million cruise missiles which is a waste of money. Another sign that this was a sour grapes attack. Particularly since the defenders of Mykolaiv stopped Putin from advancing to Odesa at the beginning of the invasion.

General SVR said today Putin is raging that Bakhmut hasn’t been taken by his latest deadline of April 30 and now the new deadline is May 8 before the Moscow “victory parade”.

I expect more sour grapes attacks by Putin directed towards civilians unfortunately.

This seems like an incredible waste of weaponry esp with the focus being on a coming Ukrainian counter offensive where these weapons would be more useful.
Everything that I have read states that the bombing of German cities during WW2 had limited effect on the war. Attacking infrastructure and war making capacities did even if strategic bombing at that time was relatively ineffective. With that said todays technology allows for one bomb or missile to do more damage than dozens of B-17s, so to use these weapons against civilian targets is both criminal and a poor use of these weapons

If this is rage, it is equally ineffective
Much of what has been demonstrated by Russian military is unexplainable, launching expensive technologically advanced weapons against civilian targets, sending 2-3 bmps or tanks across an open field, human wave attacks…..
Apparently myself and many others were projecting some military tactical, operational and strategic changes more akin to western doctrine than was deserved. In hindsight the actions in Afghanistan Georgia and Chechnya should have alerted us
My 2 cents

Murdering women and children has always been the Russian way of war. ISIS with snow. And like most every rapist they always blame their victims for their crimes.
