‘It is going to get struck down’: Washington Legislature passes gun ban

The Washington Legislature has passed a bill banning the sale, purchase, or importation of rifles, pistols, and shotguns deemed to be “assault weapons,” though legislators voting in opposition argued it won’t survive a legal challenge.

“It’s going to pass [the Legislature],” Sen. Keith Wagoner, R-Sedro-Woolley, told colleagues on the Senate floor. “I’m sure it will be signed by the governor. It’s going to be struck down, it’s not going to change anything.”

HB 1240 initially cleared both chambers, but the Senate version was rejected by the House for adding an amendment by Wagoner exempting active military personnel receiving orders to move to Washington or military retirees moving to Washington state. That amendment was ultimately removed from the Senate version before the April 18 vote.

They should pass a bill eliminating their salaries.

The fact they KNOW its unconstitutional and will be struck down is clear cut evidence they are NOT bound by oath to the Constitution. Anyone who said this should be removed from office immediately based on that very fact.

Citizens should sue the legislators. They are passing a law that will restrict constitutional rights knowing full well it won’t hold up. Therefore, they are purposefully committing mischief.

It will be the law until it is overturned. Moving the ball yard by yard….

Not counting Michigan and Pennsylvania, there are 20 blue states. They can pass this kind of law in every one of them. The SCOTUS will have to strike down the law in every blue state. They're playing for keeps. They are waiting for the day when the SCOTUS will turn leftist.

William Kirk, lawyer, https://www.washingtongunlaw.com/
talked about this. He has daily short videos where he cover this issue and others. In one recent video (I don’t remember which one) he stated that there are four, possibly five, lawsuits ready to be filed as soon as Gov. Inless signs the bill. If a judge issues a stay then the law/legislation is put on hold until it is adjudicated.

Gov. Insleaze will sign it into law tomorrow 4/20, Hitlers birthday of all things, but also on the anniversary of the Columbine shooting to make a media spectacle out of it.

Its an absolute train wreck of a law with multiple constitutional infringements and will not hold up in superior court. 9th Circuis will probably uphold it or place it on hold for review after an emergency injunction by lawsuits are filed. Every Washingtonian knows how the $30 car tags ended up after we overwhelmingly voted for it.

As a Washington resident I have fought hard against this atrocity of a bill, it will do NOTHING!!! to prevent crime or shootings. Under this law, even being in posession of replacement parts for a owned firearm; springs, trigger groups, BCG’s, firing pins etc., makes an individual an instant felon. The law is so vague that it does prevent not only gunsmiths and even the owners to disassemble, clean and reassemble, because now one falls into the “manufacture” of an “assault weapon” catagory.

The list of what the law considers an assault weapon is open to interpretation and it pretty much makes everything other than revolvers, some bolt pump and lever action rifles, pump and break action shotguns the only firearms allowed.

Its heartbreaking that my state and our country has fallen to the exceptions being the rule of the land. But those c0cksuk3rs will never break my will. I am heavily considering running for office in my district next election cycle. My past is filled with flaws, but Im not afraid to admit my failings, my opponent will gladly put them into an attack/attempt to slander me, but I have repented thricefold for my mistakes in life. The encroachment of individual rights safeguarded by the Constitution needs to have someone to put their toes down in the turf and push back.

Trump set an anchor and has given millions of us a place to hold fast, but push forward once the seas have settled. The main storm has begun to settle and every link in the chain of freedom has held strong, its time we pull anchor and head into the winds against the storm.

Keep in mind, this is not a call to violence, its a call to quit being a keyboard warrior and actually do something. We need to take the rules the left have been using against us and (metaphorically) shove it back in their faces.

End rant! Lol

YUP; just ask the Krauts in the trenches of WW-1.

When the US Marines used the Model 1897 WINCHESTER shotgun to great effect.

Invented by JOHN MOSES BROWNING, prior to World War One it saw action in the Philippine and against Pancho Villa.

You don’t need the USSC to find the law unconstitutional. A federal district judge can tell the Washington fascists to stuff it.

It also takes time and money to challenge this obviously unconstitutional law.
