The downward spiral has reached critical mass. Following the Trump endorsement by Florida Congressman Byron Douglas [See Here], Team Meatball is triggered. Ron DeSantis has begun calling Florida Republican congressional reps, begging them not to endorse President Trump.
You can almost see the cheese arriving to complement the whine.
(Via NBC) Gov. Ron DeSantis’ political operation has started calling Republican members of the Florida congressional delegation in an effort to consolidate support after four members publicly backed Donald Trump in his 2024 presidential bid.
Sources with four of the six members contacted by DeSantis’ team shared the outreach with NBC News; each requested anonymity to confirm the calls.
As Trump continues to lead in the polls for the GOP presidential nomination, the governor is trying to stop defections in his own backyard ahead of his expected run. DeSantis currently has no endorsements from the state delegation.
The efforts by the governor’s team started after Trump picked up the backing of Rep. Byron Donalds, who has been a DeSantis ally. The earlier three endorsements were from Reps. Anna Paulina Luna, Matt Gaetz and Cory Mills, who are vocal Trump boosters and whose support wasn’t surprising.
Since Donalds came out for Trump, DeSantis’ team has called at least six members of Florida’s congressional delegation, asking that they hold off on making any endorsements in the near future. The members called by DeSantis’ team are: Reps. Aaron Bean, Vern Buchanan, Kat Cammack, Mario Diaz-Balart, Laurel Lee and Greg Steube.
Ryan Tyson, a longtime GOP pollster and mainstay in DeSantis’ political orbit, has led the effort. Tyson has initiated the calls, reaching out to schedule a later call between the member of Congress and DeSantis himself.
“There is clearly some angst from the DeSantis camp that so many members of the state’s congressional delegation are throwing their support behind Trump,” said a GOP consultant for one of the members contacted by the governor’s team. “Gaetz going with Trump is one thing, but Byron’s endorsement of the former president undoubtedly rattled some cages.” (read more)
“DeSantis currently has NO ENDORSEMENTS from the Florida delegation“…. Readers, if you are a registered voter in Florida, you know what to do. Call your congressman or congresswoman and tell them your expectation, in advance of DeSantis calling them and asking for an endorsement.
Let the GOP representatives know your expectation, while simultaneously delivering a death blow to the influence of Wall Street, multinational corporations, billionaire influence peddlers and the professional political class. They have dumped $500+ million into DeSantis… Make it worthless!
DeSantis ran to be governor of Florida. Make him live up to that expectation.
Honestly as much as I like DeSantis, his weaselly little Draft Ron/Ready For Ron ads are embarrassing. Don’t expect to be drafted by the base. What candidate does that? Trump didn’t.
Democrats, radical left wingers and Muslim extremists.
NO compromise allowed
I make these observations daily on a multitude of FR threads. Maybe you should try to suss some truth out on your own by watching events like some of us do.
You probably believed that Trump’s security team actually let him walk into a deep state stronghold last Tuesday. You probably believed that after all the blood, sweat and prosecutorial misconduct by Alvin Bragg to bring an indictment against Trump he suddenly decided to be a good guy and pass up the handcuffs, mugshot and cameras for the event. Did you see Trump get arrested? I didn’t. Did you see Trump get finger printed? I didn’t. Did you see Trump standing in front of the judge? I didn’t. Did you hear how much bond Trump had to post? I didn’t.
Here’s what you saw. A guy who looks like Trump only 2-3 inches shorter walk into the side entrance of the courthouse. Later you saw a still shot of A guy who looks like Trump sitting at A table with his attorneys. The reason you didn’t see anything is because it didn’t happen. You can’t arrest a sitting President. Later you saw Trump leave Trump tower, get in a full presidential motorcade with ambulance and depart for the return to Maralago. That’s what you saw.
What you heard was a bunch of network news anchors”tell” you what was happening while your lying eyes were seeing something else. See how that works?
How can you be offended?
It doesn’t make any sense.
Can someone tell me what the joke is about “meatball”?
Best I can figure is when Hulk Hogan (Thunderlips) called Sly Stallone (Rocky) “ultimate meatball” in their fight in Rocky III.
Anyway, it’s just another proof to me that Trump isn’t that witty. Somewhat, but not brilliant (my sister was a genius at wit, including coming up with nicknames).
Hear, hear.
Or is it here, here?
Are they his, or his supporters’?
IOW, multiple fascists, never mind the communists.
(I think I’m using the liberal definiation of fascist, as opposed to the pure real one, which is government control over what private business does - which we have already been for decades thanks to liberals.)
.
You asked about calling DeSantis a ‘meatball.’
Meatball is a slur used to describe Italians in a derogatory way.
All eight of DeSantis’s great-parents were born in Italy.
This slur is noticeable to many people of Italian hertitage.

Oh great. Another pejorative I’ve learned as an old person. All these years I never knew it.
Usually I learn them thanks to liberals, mostly whining and complaining about it, but this time it’s Trump trying to mock.
I’d like to overhear the conversation between Ron and Matt Gaetz, while Ron is begging for support to defeat Trump. Matt likely would have a two-word response.
