Why was he called a “QAnon” Shaman anyway? Was he saying Q told them to do this, or what?

Chansley associated himself with a couple of QAnon gatherings in Phoenix, but he would basically associate himself with any and all causes where he could wear his shaman outfit and have a turn at the mike. He was was basically a professional attention-getter. Someone tagged him with the name "QAnon shaman" and it stuck.
