The town of Nova Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast is liberated from the Russian occupiers.

Details: As of 22 March, “all units of the occupying army deployed in the settlement of Nova Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast have left the town”.
As the General Staff states, this was preceded by searches in the houses of the local population with the aim of looting. The occupiers “confiscated” a large quantity of household appliances and electronic devices, jewellery, clothes and mobile phones.
In a number of other settlements in the temporarily occupied left-bank part of Kherson Oblast, the occupiers have begun searching for civilians with a pro-Ukraine stance. For this, they are using the lists of the participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (the operation conducted in the east of Ukraine in 2014-2015 – ed.), retired members of the military and persons who served in law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.
The General Staff also added that the occupiers are conducting defensive operations on the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia fronts.

Details: The minister answered journalists’ questions about the fate of weapons issued to ordinary citizens at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion and about the situation with the legalisation of weapons in Ukraine.
Quote: “First of all, all weapons that have been legally issued to citizens, including by the National Police, are currently registered in a single database. And we do not see any problems with controlling its use. Therefore, these weapons will remain in the hands of our citizens until the end of the war.
We understand that after the adoption of the law on weapons legalisation in the second reading [the draft law on the right to civilian firearms is currently being prepared for the second reading – ed.], the responsibility for implementing this law will primarily lie with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police. First and foremost, there is the security factor, which we need to discuss with the public, experts, and members of parliament.
The first step we are already taking is to develop a unified registry of weapons, which will allow us to exchange data electronically with business entities and other law enforcement agencies. I can say now that we plan to launch the unified weapons register in exactly three months, on June 23, 2023.”
Background: In September 2022, Deputy Interior Minister Ihor Bondarenko reported that the gun registry was in trial operation. According to him, the launch was planned for October 2022.

Spain will send its first batch of Leopard 2A4 battle tanks to Ukraine by the end of next week.

Details: The six Leopard 2A4 tanks that are being prepared for shipment have passed their final inspections at a plant near Seville in southern Spain, the statement said.
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles visited the plant on Thursday and said four more Leopard 2A4 tanks destined for Ukraine would soon arrive for inspection and testing.
The first group of Ukrainian soldiers trained to drive Spanish tanks has completed training at a military base in northern Spain, the Spanish Defence Ministry announced last week.
Initially, Spain planned to send six Leopard tanks to Ukraine. Subsequently, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on the anniversary of Russia’s invasion and said that Spain would increase its commitment to 10 combat vehicles.
Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin announced at a Ramstein meeting in March that a total of nine countries had pledged to provide Ukraine with more than 150 Leopard tanks.

The town of Nova Kakhovka in Kherson Oblast is on the left (eastern) bank of the Dnipro river and is the site of a hydroelectric power plant that generates about 350MW. A bridgehead on the left bank is a significant tactical and operational advantage.

Mykhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of Russia, admitted that Russia has been breaking the rules accepted by it upon joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in 2012 for a long time. Herewith, he believes that the WTO membership has its advantages.

Quote: “Withdrawal from the WTO. Is it good or bad? In fact, we have been making the decisions we want for ten years. As of today, we basically do not fulfil our obligations.

He stated that the WTO membership does not bother Russia.
“As of today, we must carefully consider: will this be beneficial for us? It (WTO membership – ed.) does not bother us.
We can withdraw from the organisation and thus lose the mechanisms that are still in place, even though they are not being fully performed. We must analyse this situation since it is ambiguous; we must look at it and think about it,” Mishustin concluded.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his video address to the EU leaders at the summit, has suggested holding a “peace plan summit” in one of the European capitals.
“In his address to the EU Council, Zelenskyy said he wanted to arrange a “peace plan summit” in Kyiv but understands it could be difficult for all to come to Ukraine so asked if such a summit could be held in an EU capital,” tweeted Rikard Jozwiak, Radio Liberty reporter.
Politico reports that Zelenskyy addressed EU leaders for about 10 minutes on a video call while visiting cities in war-torn Ukraine.
According to a European official, the essence of Zelenskyy’s message to EU leaders was: “Speed up your delivery of weapons, or else the war will drag on,” the official added.
According to The Guardian, Zelenskyy warned European leaders of five factors that could prolong the war, including delays in the delivery of long-range missiles, lack of modern aircraft and weaknesses in western sanctions.
The President of Ukraine in his speech at the G20 summit in the autumn of 2022 presented a 10-point peace plan that covers such issues as security, including food and energy, as well as the withdrawal of Russian troops from Ukrainian territory.
Later, he was supported by, among others, the United States, the European Union, and Türkiye, and the Ukrainian side spoke of its intention to hold an event dedicated to the peace formula on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
In late February, the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly approved a draft resolution (Ukr) incorporating key provisions of the Peace Formula proposed by Ukraine in the autumn of 2022 – a ten-point plan designed to end Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Nova Kakhovka is the source of the North Crimean Canal.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces initially said in an update Thursday that all Russian military units had pulled out of the town of Nova Kakhovka on the east bank of the Dnipro River. It would have marked a significant development, as the first east bank settlement of any size seized by Ukraine since forcing Russia's troops out of Kherson and seizing the west bank last November. But the General Staff retracted the claim a short time later, writing in a statement on Facebook: “The occupiers are still located in Nova Kakhovka. The information about the enemy's alleged withdrawal from this settlement was made public as a result of incorrect use of available data.”

True, good point. 60% of the industry market in Crimea belongs to food production. Livestock production is poultry with cattle and sheep breeding.Products produced on the Crimean Peninsula include cereals, vegetable-growing, gardening, and wine-making.
Crimea is facing a water shortage wiht its rivers and major streams fed by rainwater. Many streams dry up completely during the summer.
Still Crimea is Ukrainian territory currently occupied by Russia and Crimea internationally recognized as part of Ukraine. Kyiv politically administers thru the Ministry of Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Crimea also has several natural gas fields both onshore and offshore, which were starting to be drilled by western oil and gas companies before annexation!!
I keep getting this feeling that Putin is doing exactly what Xi asked him to do, ie letting us expend all our war-stock in Ukraine so that when China moves on Taiwan, we don’t have anything to fight with or give to Taiwan. I also get the feeling that Biden is doing what Xi pays him to do in using up our war-stocks. I hear people in media talking about how incompetent the Russian Army and Its ruin are. What if this is going to plan? What if Putin is just waiting until we are out of stuff to give Ukraine? I think that may happen soon with some classes of munitions.
Time for peace agreement, right now. Halt this madness.
