Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
ORYX ^ | Since February 24, 2022 and daily | ORYX

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

Yes they are annihilating the crap out of each other. I could post an entire page of Russian blowing up Uke equipment and men also.

Which is why this awful , bloody war needs to stop. Negotiate give Russia a slice of the mostly Russian speaking Eastern eastern section, leave the rest of Ukraine neutral. Then re-arm the crap out of Ukraine and let them build defensive positions.

Let them get back to life

PS
1 video posted today, new as always. Uke tanks, US supplied APCs (i think) and infantry attacking Russ positions and breaking through but getting hit with arty and suffering losses. Every day a dozen new ones….

“#Russia appears to be bringing T-54s and T-55s out of storage for deployment in #Ukraine.”

Does this mean that “Vlad” is finally taking the gloves off?

-—> Ukraine Situation Report: Patriot Air Defenses To Arrive Sooner Than Anticipated <——
The delivery of a Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, which has no way to reliably defeat ballistic missiles now, is being accelerated.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-patriot-air-defenses-to-arrive-sooner-than-anticipated

Excerpts:
Speaking to reporters at the Pentagon on Tuesday, Air Force Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder, the Pentagon’s top spokesman, said that delivery of the Patriot battery will be “expedited.” But he did not offer specifics.

“So for operations security reasons, I’m not going to get into delivery timelines other than to say we’re confident that we’ll be able to get the Patriots there on an expedited timeline,” Ryder said. “I’ll just leave it at that.”

“You’re seeing that the Ukrainians that were undergoing Patriot training went faster than expected, just given their propensity and eagerness to do the training,” he said. “So of course that figures into this and I really, again, don’t want to get into when you’re going to see the Patriot arrive in Ukraine other than one day, it will be there and we’ll highlight that once the Ukrainians have done things.”

A group of 65 Ukrainian soldiers will complete their training on the systems at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, in the coming days,” CNN reported, citing a US defense officials said on Tuesday.

“The troops will then move on to Europe for additional training on the two Patriot systems - one American and one built by the Germans and Dutch - that will be deployed to Ukraine in the coming weeks, the officials told reporters at Fort Sill.”

US trainers at Fort Sill, where the 65 Ukrainians have been training since January 15, were able to significantly speed up the timeline of the course because of the Ukrainians’ baseline knowledge of air defense systems, the officials told reporters from several news organizations.

“Our assessment is that the Ukrainian soldiers are impressive, and absolutely a quick study,” said Brig. Gen. Shane Morgan, the Fort Sill commander. “Due to their extensive air defense knowledge and experience in a combat zone, it was easier - though never easy - for them to grasp the Patriot System Operations and Maintenance concepts.”

-—> Ukrainian Drone Pilot’s Frontline Account Of Fighting Via Eyes In The Sky <——
Dodging incoming Russian mortars to spot where Russia is firing from is just a day in the life of a Ukrainian drone operator.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukrainian-drone-pilots-frontline-account-of-fighting-via-eyes-in-the-sky

Excerpts:
Despite the barrage of incoming rounds, Monya said he and the drone pilot under his command did not try to seek shelter. With their unit had been under fire for days after moving into a new area of responsibility, it was up to them to try to use their DJI Mavic 3 drone to find the Russian mortar batteries so that Ukrainian forces could return fire and silence the threat.

“When we heard the fire of enemy artillery, we did not try to hide, because we were afraid of losing the connection between the radio control unit and the drone,” he said. “When they opened fire, we heard the sound and tried to see the smoke from the shot.”

Monya said his main job is to plan and control the operations of his team of pilots. They are among thousands of Ukrainian troops who volunteered to learn how to operate commercial off the shelf drones and provide critical intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, fires adjustment and strike capabilities.

Free Air school was created in April 2022, as the demand for Ukrainian drone operators surged, said Michelle Armand, the school’s director.

Armand is a former TV journalist in Ukraine who operated drones as part of her job. Now she is in charge of ensuring that thousands of Ukrainians learn how to operate a drone well enough to use it in battle.

As of December, Free Air had trained some 5,000 Ukrainian troops, special services personnel, rescuers and law enforcement officers to become drone pilots. Armand said.

The school, which offers what is now an intensive five-day training program, caters to those with a wide range of experience, but largely people who have never operated a drone before.

“We teach UAV operators from scratch,” Armand told The War Zone. “People who have no prior experience using UAVs come to us. We teach what is necessary for our pilots to carry out combat missions.”

-—> M1A1 Abrams Variant Will Be Given To Ukraine To Expedite Tank Deliveries <——
In addition to M1A1 tanks from the United States, Ukraine is now set to get depleted uranium tank ammunition from the United Kingdom.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/m1a1-abrams-variant-will-be-given-to-ukraine-to-expedite-tank-deliveries

Excerpts:
U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, the Pentagon’s top spokesperson, provided new details about the plans to transfer Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian armed forces at a routine press conference today. American authorities formally announced in January that they would be transferring 31 M1s to the Ukrainian armed forces, but said that the process would take many months, possibly spilling over in 2024.

Reports earlier today indicated that the decision to send refurbished M1A1s rather than M1A2s was made in part to help reduce training and logistical requirements, in addition to allowing for truncating the overall delivery schedule. Just how much easier to operate and maintain the M1A1 variant is compared to the M1A2 is not immediately clear, especially given the various subvariants that exist of each type.

While the baseline M1A2 variant does feature improved fire control systems, sensors, communications gear, and more, compared to the baseline M1A1, it remains unknown exactly what specific configuration Ukraine’s tanks will actually be in when they arrive.

Subvariants of the M1A1 were deployed after its initial introduction that included new digital fire control and other systems, as well as various other upgrades. A so-called Situation Awareness (SA) subvariant was then developed that incorporated many of these improvements into a more ready exportable configuration.

However, if British officials have approved the transfer of ammunition with DU inside to Ukraine, this raises the possibility that American authorities might allow Abrams with armor containing DU to be sent to that country if other operational security concerns can be suitably addressed. That, in turn, would eliminate the need for the months-long modification process to install a non-DU armor package.

Pentagon Press Secretary Ryder told reporters today that he was not aware of any U.S. plans to send ammunition containing depleted uranium to Ukraine, a question that has also come up in the context of the transfer of Bradley Fighting Vehicles. He did say that the Abrams for Ukraine would have “advanced armor,” but provided no further specifics.

Even without DU armor packages or the capabilities found in newer M1A2 variants, Abrams tanks could still be a major boon for Ukrainian forces. Even older variants are significantly more capable, including in their ability to operate effectively at night, and better protected than the Soviet-era tanks and derivatives thereof that currently dominate the armored forces of both sides of the conflict in Ukraine.

Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth told reporters in February, according to CNN. “We’re looking at what’s the fastest way we can get the tanks to the Ukrainians. It’s not going to be a matter of weeks.”

••Day 391: March 21 Today there are a lot of updates from the east. Here, Russian forces are continuously assaulting all Ukrainian defenses that stand in their way of taking the Bakhmut group into a pocket.

But such a high number of assaults also allowed Ukrainian defenders to evolve extremely rapidly, and now Ukrainian reconnaissance and HIMARS crews are destroying up to 3 Russian assault units per day before they even launch their assaults. [Shows IR slides of 14 dead Orcs scattered in a tree line and field.]

Last time I told you that Ukrainians have the most active stance in the southern part of the region around Ivanivske.

I also told you that Ukrainians are reportedly conducting localized counterattacks in three separate directions in order to push Russians as far from the Ivanivske highway as possible. The freshest reports suggest that Ukrainians have achieved notable results.

Previously, Ukrainians maintained positions on the highlands around Ivanivske and counterattacked Russians that entered the approaches to the hills. Today Russian sources reported that Ukrainians conducted a bigger attack.

Freshly released footage confirms that there were fierce fights in the forest near Bakhmut. Some sources claimed Ukrainians not only pushed Russians out of the trees in front of the hill but also established their positions there and significantly diminished the ability of Russians to cross the bridge over the canal to attack in the direction of Stupochky.

Such actions greatly improved the security over the Ivanivske highway, and Russian sources already reported that a column of Ukrainian T-64BVs is heading to Bakhmut from Chasiv Yar.

Some Russian sources critiqued the lack of use [shortage] of high-precision weapons [in Russian aviation] as well as [traditional] problems with intelligence and communications in Russian forces, which allow Ukrainians to move freely in large columns of armored vehicles in the front-line city.

In the southern part of Bakhmut, Russian forces are trying to create a small cauldron around a group of Ukrainian forces south of the city stadium. So far, their attempts to create a threat of encirclement have failed, and they increased the concentration of their forces on the local graveyard.

Geolocated footage shows how Ukrainian air reconnaissance noticed that several small Wagner groups, one by one, entered the building in front of the graveyard and conducted an airstrike, destroying the assault group and a good place for hiding ammunition. Those units that had passed the graveyard engaged in tough fights with the Ukrainian 80th separate assault brigade.

The brigade recently released a lot of videos featuring fights in the outskirts as well as closer to the city center. Nonetheless, the toughest fights are taking place in the northern part of the city. Ukrainian forces reported that Russians are using barrage fire. As seen from the footage, Russian forces are shelling the area between the industrial zone and the central part of the city.

The main idea of a barrage is to deny access across that line of the barrage in order to undermine the Ukrainian defense on the AZOM complex. So far, it looks like this tactic works because Russians managed to increase the area of their control.

Today’s geolocated footage shows that Ukrainian soldiers are holding defense in front of the culture building. Judging by the positions of Ukrainian troops, they are engaging with attackers north of Peremoga street, which means that Wagners have established control over the warehouses and crossed the railways.

However, the main focus of Ukrainian artillery became Russian assault units to the north of Bakhmut. As you remember, Russians recently switched back to attempts at carrying out the plan of encirclement and increased the number of assaults between Khromove and Bohdanivka significantly.

Yesterday, Ukrainian forces prevented an assault on Bohdanivka by conducting a precision strike on the area where they concentrated. Ukrainian special reconnaissance group spotted how Russian soldiers in small groups gradually gathered in a tree line, waited until the assault group had been fully formed, and then coordinated with a HIMARS crew that hit right in the middle of this group.

One of the spokesmen for Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut noted that Ukrainian reconnaissance and artillery units in coordination also destroyed 3 such groups today, so many Russian assault units never actually get to conduct their assaults. Ukrainian tight control over the fields continues to prevent Russian from closing the pocket around Bakhmut.

Overall, Ukrainian forces continue to use Bakhmut to inflict disproportionately high losses to the most capable Russian assault units. The fact that Ukrainians are so focused on preventing Wagners from cutting the roads entangles Russians in urban fighting even more.

If, after taking Soledar, Wagner forces expected to just close the pocket and avoid moving block by block inside Bakhmut, then today we can see that Wagners were already dragged through 60% of the city and are currently engaging in intense fights in some of the most fortified areas in entire Ukraine.

Denys says:
••Bakhmut:
PMC claims 70% of the city is under their control, but that includes areas that neither side controls [gray areas]. So their area of control is actually much smaller.

British Intelligence says many PMC convict contracts will shortly expire as their 6 month contracts are fulfilled. They will then join Russian society as free men.

That would only reward and encourage such brutal criminal aggression. Putin must be punished, to restore deterrence.

My Indonesian is weak to non-existent. Impossible to tell what vehicles and whether Russian of UA. Filmed when ground was still frozen so last month at least. Crossing an open field in slow moving vehicles is not smart.

No one in the “Russian speaking” areas want to be ruled by Russians they have seen the horrors of Russian rule up close.

Orcs will just rearm and attack again, unless they are defeated militarily - which is looking sooner than later

“No!! You will know the gloves are off when the T-34s make an appearance.”

Don’t forget about the T-26.

“The T-26 tank was a Soviet light tank used during many conflicts of the Interwar period and in World War II. It was a development of the British Vickers 6-Ton tank and was one of the most successful tank designs of the 1930s until its light armour became vulnerable to newer anti-tank guns.[3] It was produced in greater numbers than any other tank of the period, with more than 11,000 units manufactured.[4] During the 1930s, the USSR developed 53 variants of the T-26, including flame-throwing tanks, combat engineer vehicles, remotely controlled tanks, self-propelled guns, artillery tractors, and armoured carriers. Twenty-three of these were series-produced, others were experimental models.[5]”

The equipment, which arrived by ship to Gdynia, brings up the total number of K9s in the Polish Army to 48 & K2s to 15.

Additional deliveries will be made later this year.

Another rumor was the three targets had been hit (or destroyed). This could be the real news of the day.
