On the other hand, if your opponent cheats and uses every dirty trick in the book, what good is ability and competence? If those mattered, America would not be circling in the toilet right now.

When you prosecute somebody for something that isn't a crime - or even if it is - nobody cares about it or it's a violation so petty that you can't explain to the American People, it tends to backfire. Sure, he'll lose the NPR vote, but they are scum and never were in Trump's (or any other Conservative's) camp to begin with.

This will only strengthen Trump going into 2024.

True. I’m not sure what the answer is. I’m not sure where the line in the sand should be. I have a feeling it was crossed decades ago. Maybe it was Roe v. Wade (1973). Maybe it was Lawrence v. Texas (2003). Maybe it was Obergefell v. Hodges (2015). Maybe it was the 2020 election. Maybe it was the so-called Respect for Marriage Act (2022). Whenever it was, I’m pretty sure by now our founders would have written a declaration of war, saddled up, and taken the battle to the enemy. For most of us, it’s just too inconvenient to take any such extreme action. So, we hope a hero will step up and rescue us.
