“The Ukrainians are slowly withdrawing, exacting as high a toll as possible from the Russians as they advance. The Russians made a big deal about occupying the east side of the river, but Ukrainians announced a withdrawal a few days ago anyway.
Meanwhile the Ukrainians seems to have blunted if not stopped the Russian advance to the north and may have pushed the Russians back a little in the south. The situation will be more interesting if the Russians deplete their flanks to advance into Bakhmut.”

Who are you trying to convince? There are people on both sides who are trivially influential from their respective positions. They have no power and they cannot affect the outcome in either direction. All you will get is people arguing with each other.

“Who are you trying to convince?”

No one. I do not present ‘arguments.’ I am not responsible to convince or think for others.

Intellectual honesty demands that each of us is responsible to form our own opinion.
Actually, the exposure to differing viewpoints is quite important to evaluate which is based on truth and facts.

That is why the sniping and posturing of some Freepers appears so foolish!

Rather, I submit information from sources for Freepers that others may not have access.

The true value of this Free Republic site is to be constantly learning. This pursuit of knowledge is vital to know the line between what “we believe to be true” and “what is fundamentally true.”

I honor your right to freedom of thought and expression. Each of us are responsible to form our own opinion. Intellectual honesty demands for each of us to think independently examining information to determine which is based on truth and facts.

RUSSIAN TROOPS COMPLAIN TO PUTIN ABOUT 1940’S WEAPONS: ‘WE ARE NOT MEAT’
BY BRENDAN COLE ON 3/6/23 AT 10:31 AM EST
https://www.newsweek.com/russia-ukraine-putin-complain-meat-weapons-1940s-1785781

Mobilized Russian troops fighting in Ukraine have complained in a video about old equipment, a lack of effective command and being sent out as cannon fodder.

Since the start of the war, reports have abounded of low morale among Russian troops and a lack of training and equipment, in particular for those who have been mobilized as part of the draft announced at the end of September.

But this latest clip, which as of Monday had been viewed more than 100,000 times, gave a snapshot of the extent of some of the broader complaints that have been emerging on social media from mobilized Russian troops.

Tweeted by the account of War Translated, the clip shows a group of Russian soldiers in an undisclosed location behind a man in front saying: “We appeal to commander-in-chief Vladimir Putin.” He said they were drafted from Russia’s Kaliningrad, Murmansk and Arkhangelsk regions and were serving in the 5th Motorized Brigade.

A clip tweeted on March 6, 2023, purportedly shows Russian troops complaining about poor equipment.

Among his list of complaints was how his regiment hadn’t been given any strategy or tactics. They had also been sent into assaults with no cooperation with commanders, a lack of fire support and no way to conduct night and day surveillance.

“We’re lacking armored vehicles and artillery support ahead of the assault,” he said, and “weapons from the 1940s are being used, including mortars and guns.”

He spoke of how there was no air reconnaissance, no written combat orders and that the group was prepared for territorial defense, not as an assault unit. During its first assault, six of the regiment’s troops had been killed in one trench.

“We’re asking you to pay rigorous attention to the preparation of the assault by the brigade,” he said, adding that punitive measures against them for being rioters “are already being prepared,” including being locked in cellars.

“We have no rioters,” he said, “we are all 30 to 40 years old, we have families and children and higher education.”

*The perfect way to assess how bad the Russian situation is in Bakhmut right now is by asking soldiers from evacuation groups about how difficult their job is at the moment.

But why ask when Ukrainian Intelligence can just intercept their phone calls? You’ll hear 2 interceptions in the current video.

“Mandatory evacuation of the population has been announced in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region. Last September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces liberated the city. However, it is under constant shelling by the Russian army.

To avoid casualties, the authorities are urging people to move to safer regions. There they will receive temporary housing, the status of IDPs, social payments and humanitarian aid.”

Prigozhin is fighting like a feudal lord using mercenary corps. His style of war went out with the rise of modern warfare and standing armies. Wagner fights well when Russian political and military support it. When Wagner moved into Eastern Bakhmut, they up their own flag up, not the Russian flag. The message being sent is Wagner is better than the Russian army and Wagner is fighting for Wagner and Prigozhin, not Russia.

That is not going over well at all with the Russian military leadership, especially since they are Wagner's supply line. It should not surprise anyone that no one in the Russian general staff is not returning Prigozhin's calls. Now that Shoigu is cutting Wagner off and Putin is not intervening, Wagner is in trouble.

For Ukraine, keeping the fighting in Bakhmut means other cites are not getting destroyed. Bakhmut is getting turned into rubble. It is not going to get more rebuilt as its rubble is turned into dust. Preventing the same from happening to Sloviansk in the North to New York (Нью-Йорк) further South is a Ukrainian objective. As long as Russia has disproportionate losses, holding Bakhmut makes sense.

Wagner got its start taking over Crimea, then moved to Donestk and Luhansk. Ukraine has a score to settle with them. Now that Russia has cut off the supply of prisoners and Prigozhin is still pushing for Bakhmut, his ambition is giving Ukraine a opprotunity to wear down Wagner's core of more experienced personnel.

One possible unintended consequence is there is a preemptive "brain drain" among the lower ranks of future Russian forces going on in Bakhmut. The Wagner getting killed, would become more senior personnel filling out a western military. I don't think anyone in Ukraine's military, US or NATO planners dislike that idea.

Data from the European Commission, quoted by El Pais, says that Russia has a 10:1 advantage in artillery:

According to data from the European Commission to which EL PAÍS has had access, Russia fires between 40,000 and 50,000 artillery shells per day, compared to 5,000-6,000 Ukrainian forces expend. The Estonian government, which has been one of largest contributors to Kyiv’s war effort, puts the average use of artillery at between 20,000 and 60,000 Russian shells per day, and 2,000 to 7,000 Ukrainian rounds, according to a document sent to EU Member States by Tallinn, to which this newspaper has had access.

The Russian forces fire ten times the number of shells the Ukrainians can fire. In a modern war artillery fire causes 65+% of all casualties. It is thus impossible that Ukraine is losing less soldiers than the Russians.

The total ratio may well be 7 to 1 but it will certainly be to the advantage of the Russian forces side.

But minimizing the losses Ukraine has in Bakhmut seems to be a current propaganda scheme.

https://sonar21.com/rending-americas-fabric-of-lies-is-it-possible/

The war in Ukraine has exposed the uncomfortable and dangerous truth that America has lost its ability to mass produce in a timely manner artillery shells, cruise missiles and other critical military equipment. While the CIA and the Western media continue to insist that Russia is running out of rockets and missiles, Russia continues to fire an average of 20,000 artillery rounds a day (compared to only 3 to 5 thousand by Ukraine).

CAUTION POOR SOURCE:

Johnson is just a traitorous mouthpiece for Moscow/Putin.
larry c. johnson is long-time defender of Russia. He makes his appearances on RT.
“He has been vocal in his defense of Russia AGAINST allegations that Vladimir Putin-ordered hacking campaign was conducted to disrupt the 2016 presidential election and help Trump win!
In the weeks before the inauguration, Johnson told state-controlled ‘RUSSIA TODAY’ that the U.S. conclusion that Russia interfered in the election was “a joke,” and he called the American intelligence community “stupid.”
In the same interview, Johnson said: “There’s no evidence on the side of Russia meddling in the U.S. election.”
**The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russia did meddle in the election.
Information con’t: https://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/white-house-vladimir-putin-election-hacking-donald-trump-233299
Hard get it wrong ‘straddling the fence’!
Example of for pundit Johnson i.e.
In numerous writings and interviews in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Johnson de-emphasized the threat stemming from terrorism. In 1998, he commented on Osama bin Laden, saying that he was possessed by “hatred and craziness.” If left unanswered, “he would continue to terrorize Americans around the world. He has no compunction about killing women and children. He’s a complete egalitarian in his murderous attitude.”
In later interviews, Johnson said Americans exaggerated the threats stemming from bin Laden. In July 2001 [just two months before the September 11 attacks] Johnson wrote a New York Times op-ed entitled, “The Declining Terrorist Threat,” arguing that “terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way.” !!!!
WOW! how wrong can you get!
