US based organizations like the National Endowment for Democracy and US Agency for International Development supported the protesters, even after deals had been reached to end the violence and to move the Ukraine elections to an earlier date.
Then you had people like John McCain, Chris Murphy, and Asst Sec State Victoria Nuland working with and supporting the Neo-Nazi Svoboda and other protest groups. The US even hand-picked the new Prime Minister after the Maidan revolution.
The fighting in Donbas started soon afterward.
It was Yanukovych who reneged on the deal with the EU, which is what started the protests. US agencies or NGOs could have done nothing without Ukrainians willing to stand up to Yanukovych, who had revealed himself to be little more than Putin's sock puppet.
Would that Americans now were as willing to get rid of the detestable regime here as Ukrainians were to get rid of Yanukovych.
