Onlookers swarmed social media with videos of the Chinese spy balloon being “taken out” over the waters in South Carolina Saturday.

.....recent news articles say the baloon was taken down by an F-22 “Raptor” firing an AIM-9X “Sidewinder” missile...all of the AIM-9s I ever came into contact with had heat-seeking warheads, cooled by nitrogen if I recall.. not familiar with this AIM-9X (came into the inventory after I retired....)...jus’ askin’ .....
AIM 9-X is an amazing missile that can be fired for Air to Air, Air to Ground, and can detonate at the pilots discretion.
It’s a great tool for the pilots.
Somebody posted that these missiles zero in on their target and then send out a shotgun-type blast of pellets to insure a hit.
You shoot one down and a half later you want to shoot another one down....

The payload structure was dislodged from the balloon and descended at highest speed. The flashing pieces seem to be lighter debris like cold insulation(like aluminum pieces flashing in the sunlight). The balloon was deflated and fluttered down at the lowest rate of descent. Just my opinion.

You think the Chinese sent an UNMANEUVERABLE spy balloon? Some Chinese grad student on the ground probably guided it at Beijing’s instruction while talking over his satellite phone while the FBI was searching for Trump’s Russian collusion contacts. LOL.
