but perhaps it’s because I don’t have a proclivity for Rom-Coms, I found the part where he kept trying to win over Ande Mcdowell over and over and cover a bit tedious. It would have been more amusing if he indulged himself more in the idea that whatever he said or did with her, it wouldn't matter the next day after the reset.
The whole movie is about the man having to improve and prove himself worthy of the woman. You don't see many movies where the woman sees herself as having to improve to be worthy of a man.

I think a lot of movies from the time period had that sort of theme, or something similar. I once read that the formula for most of Tom Cruise's movies was a character arc of a flawed and sometimes unlikable guy who had to come to a reckoning and as a result become a sympathetic character.
Speaking of quotes, I liked this one:
"What would you do if you were stuck in one place... and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?"
"That sums it up for me."
