More fun facts: There’s some question about how large the battery is in the Hummer and how much stored power is actually useful.

Let’s assume the most favorable treatment and the its 250kW and 100% useable.

250kW is the energy equivalent to approximately 7 gallons of gasoline. So your 3 ton Hummer has the equivalent of a 7 gallon gas tank. And, takes five days to pump the 7 gallon equivalent with a typical home outlet.

Excellent analysis!

It’s a shame these advanced maths and calculations you used to determine these facts isn’t something taught in school. If only 8th grade wasn’t so filled with gender studies and white supremacy classes, all potential EV buyers could do this!

Approx 37kW-hr for 1 gal gasoline.
Therefore 250kW-hr is similar to 7 gal of gasoline.
However, electric motors are 95% efficient vs gasoline engines, which are 40% efficient.
So you would need ~16gal of gasoline to do the same kind of work.

Last I checked, Hummers had 32gal gas tanks. Gasoline Hummers had twice the energy that EV Hummers have... and can be refueled much faster.

If someone invents a lightweight gasoline fuel-cell (gasoline-to-electricity), you can make a gasoline-powered EV which gets the twice the range of gasoline because the electric motor is 95% efficient.
