I’m sure Paul Pelosi wishes he would have ran out of the house when he first opened the in-swing door, but he took a step back to let the cops in, and then DePape attacked. I would probably have ran, but I may have seen the cops, and been thoroughly relieved, figuring the gig was up, too.
The Pelosi home was visually monitored by the Capital Police when Nancy was not there. In retrospect, I am sure the Pelosis wish there had been better security at their own expense, but I suppose 99.99 per cent of people would think visual monitoring by professionals would suffice. The one monitoring the cameras never noticed anything in the darkness until the police are flashing lights alerted him (or her).
Paul Pelosi did try to escape via the elevator, but DePape stopped him, DePape being much bigger, stronger and younger and armed with a hammer. So I imagine DePape kept the bathroom door open while he held Pelosi prisoner.
The cops never said the men were in their underwear.
This is the last I am going to try and answer questions about that night. All the information is readily available, but people do not want to see it, and will not believe it by force of will. Much will be written of the hate spewed and it will be used as ammunition to quell conservatives’ voices.
Great information, thank-you. My understanding was only Pelosi was in underwear (boxers) because he had been sleeping. It’s incredible how twisted facts get.
Since DePape was armed with hammer, it is even more bizarre that Pelosi didn’t leave house when police showed up at door, or at least stay by police.
