“lots of talk about the M2 bradley, and how it MAY be going to the ukraine.. lets clear some things up shall we.

if the bradley goes, its not going alone. spare parts and support equipment will be coming along too.. TONS of it. so no problem. the bradley going would probably be the M2A2 ODS. thats a bradley that has been upgraded at least 3 times since the last time it faced the USSR

the armor is now thicker, the fire control better, the gun is better, the TOWs are improved, the sights are better.. all improved.. what can we say about the museum exhibits that MOST of the russian vehicles that are out there? well there are fewer of them. thats about all

the M242 was able to go right threw T72s in both gulf wars. the AP ammo is devastating to the soviet era cast tanks. trust me we were shocked too (brad crews). infantry would try to hide behind wrecks of tanks. it never worked. a long burst would get them

the thermal sights on the bradley are great and can be used in the recon mode, and the 25mm can (and has been) used in the anti sniper mode. brads are scarry fast. i can say that on a hill i have hit over 60mph.. and yes i was wearing the brown camo pants.

the TOW, they already have it and have used it in combat. it works and NOTHING can survive a hit from it. out of the 15+ i have fired.. only 1 miss due to a malfunction. enough said.

some will try to say “its too complicated for ukr”.. BS. if 18yo US kids can keep it running so can combat hardened smart ukr mechanics. everything is plug and play. and it comes with a computer that will tell you what is broken.

normally if you have a issue with the hull its the VDB, and you just change it out. in the turret its the TDB, or the computer.. both easy to change.. and quick. other than that the motor (PAC) or the sight go out.. all simple and easy to pull and swap.

“ISW: Lack of ammo likely to slow down Russian offensives in Bakhmut and elsewhere. The depletion of the Russian military’s artillery ammunition stocks will likely impact their ability to conduct a high pace of operations, according to the Institute for the Study of War.”

Have those 100s of T-62 tanks reached the field yet for Russia, what do they have planned for those?

It is funny listening to all the pro-Russian experts. They all have similar talking points on how awesome the modern Russian military is and how weak US and NATO are, as if the last ten months never happened. During the Gulf and Iraq Wars in the 1990s and 2000s, it was clear that Russian hardware had huge problems. The M-2 Bradley was one of the favorite targets of the military reform movement and the news during the Reagan years, and it still gets picked on today despite its success. It was supposed to put the Army at risk of losing the Gulf War. Then the 25mm cannons wrecked T-72's and Bradley's survived taking hits. After the first Gulf War getting taken seriously as military reformer was not easy when everything they said for the previous decade was largely proven wrong.

Most of the Russian military equipment is derived from the late Soviet era and early 1990s. Anything newer is designed and procured in the same system with the same problems, leading to long delays in deployment, high costs, and low numbers. Realistically, the internal problems the Russian military has now are likely worse than they were 30 years ago. Fighting smaller and more limited conflicts with weaker opponents hid much of their problems until now. There is now a accumulated 30 years since the collapse of Soviet Russia of how well Russian military equipment really works that those proclaiming Russia's inevitable victory choose to ignore.
