I’ve noticed a lot of farms around mine also skipped their fall plantings. Some also didn’t bother harvesting certain fields, because the cost of harvesting would’ve been higher than what they expected to get back.

If I recall, the most popular type of wheat is a winter type. With so many farms skipping their fall plantings, the wheat shortages reported last spring might look like a joke compared to the shortages that are coming.

Things are going to get rough!

If it’s bad next year, as it looks, expect at least the year after, and likely more, to be bad as well. It will take more than one year to make up the shortfall.
