It is like watching paint dry only more boring, and I still don’t understand why they can’t get the goalie a uniform. There is no doubt these guys are great athletes, but it is not enough to actually make the game interesting. The proof is the fans need to get blotto drunk to sit through a game.

Yeah, probably so they can have their evening glass of whine.

I find it hard to be a fan of a sport where there is more excitement in the stands than on the playingfield.

I rate shooting rats in an alley as a better sport than soccer.

On the world stage winning the World Cup is bigger than the Super Bowl but most Americans would not appreciate that.

Watching World Cup is like watching Irish step dancers who were recruited from the bar scene in Star Wars. What's with the "ho hands" stuff? A bunch of dusky freaks prancing about, it's almost like visiting the zoo.

My daughter played rugby in college. In her senior year they never had another team score on them. In high school the varsity football coach always said he wished she could play on the team. She’s always been a real girly girly but had a great ability at any sport she played. Though she was captain of her h.s. soccer team, she hated it. Two years ago she was inducted into her high school’s sports hall of fame for 2 sports., basketball and softball.

They count up and randomly add time?

This is the only football I watch now.
No mi$$ion dollar contracts because the players aren’t paid.
No bazi$$ion dollar sneaker deals because the league is pretty small.

Yes, it’s whats left of the old Lingerie Football League but there are some talented ladies playing the game. And they don’t piss on the flag.

The “randomly” added time is kept by the center official for the duration of the actual stoppages in play for injuries and the like.

I can enjoy soccer as well. I coached it for years as daughters played, they were recruited athletes at a super college, grandkids now play and enjoy the game.

In some ways, soccer is the opposite of basketball. In soccer, scoring is difficult, taking a combination of skill and luck.

Think of a soccer game as team keep away, eventually culminating in crazy charges at a well-defended goal.

Defending against a ball propelled by feet (or head) only is easier than the offensive propelling part, and when your team advances the ball forward, hopes are high (and mostly dashed).

Soccer field dimensions vary in length and width, and the best action happens on the smaller fields.

As much as I enjoy the game, when players and teams use the sport to promote anti-American causes (think Rapinoe) or anti-American culture and tradition (think the U S Men's team defiling the US Symbol with lgt...support stripes) then I lose interest. I never root against the USA, but I decline to follow at these points.

I turned on the USA vs England and fell asleep within a few minutes. I awoke when there was about 10 minutes remaining — score 0-0. Watched to the end — score 0-0.

UTx scored 38 in real football. I had it streaming on the computer.

USA vs Iran at noon tomorrow. I might turn it on, if I remember.
