“was none other than Robert the Devil.”

William the Bastard-I aint woke.

BTW. Willaim’s sister was also illegitimate.

As far as the devil part. The usual legend spread that the wife of the former noble flew out the church window during Mass.

I know. My family descends from them and much of the nobility including the Rurik dynasty.

Mine, too. That’s how I learned more about them. Most of us whose ancestors came here in Colonial times can trace our ancestry back to royalty. We’re all cousins! Amazing how many times Isabel de Vermandois appears in my family tree. Very prolific lady. I bet you may have her in yours several times, too.

Besides Robert the Devil and Bill the B-word*, some of my faves name-wise are Dangeruese and Bertha Broadfoot. Dangereuse must have been way up there on the crazy-hot matrix. She was Grandma Eleanor’s grandmother. And it seems Eleanor of Aquitaine herself had a lot of Dangereuse in her.

I got my Rurik Dynasty forebears by way of a Swedish princess who married one of the Bourbons (?) I think. Anyway, it seems this guy thought they were becoming too inbred and sought out the little Swedish gal for new blood. Or so he claimed. Maybe she was just hot.

Nice to meet you, Cuz!

*I’m not woke either, just trying to follow JimRob’s rules.
