EXCLUSIVE: Hungarian Foreign Minister Says Ukraine-Russia War Would Not Have Happened Under Trump
The Daily Caller ^ | 26-Oct-22 | Henry Rodgers

Posted on 10/27/2022 10:11:33 AM PDT by Erik Latranyi

The foreign minister of Hungary, in part, blamed the current war between Ukraine and Russia on President Joe Biden in an exclusive interview Wednesday with the Daily Caller. He argued that if the 2020 election had played out differently, there would be no war.

“The European economy is suffering. Europe is suffering. That is why the only solution for Europe is peace. But definitely, peace not will come with this behavior. What the U.S. administration has been showing. Why? Because in order to create peace, you would need to talk. You would need to communicate,” Szijjártó said during the interview. “And you know, I am usually under very heavy pressure and criticism of why I still talk to the Russians. But, you know, I mean, you cannot afford not to talk to them when you are almost hundred percent dependent on their energy sources and Russia is a reality in Europe, and Russia will remain a reality in Europe regardless of the outcome of this war.”

So, you know, what we are definitely sure about is that if your presidential election had played out differently in 2020, this war would not have broken out. As much as I can be sure about things that didn’t happen, I am pretty sure that this would have been the case because we are currently, globally speaking, we are currently lacking leaders. President Trump was a real leader. Chancellor Merkel was a real leader. So what I know is that if Chancellor Merkel. And if President Trump had stayed in power, this war, I’m pretty sure, would not have been broken out. So that’s why what we hope is that there will be some American-Russian talks in this regard because don’t be misled. Don’t be misled. This is necessary to create peace. Russian-American talks.

“The West, he said, had repeatedly rejected Moscow’s plans for peace laid out before the war in Ukraine - such as the withdrawal of all NATO troops from ex-Soviet states, against the wishes of their governments - and had instead chosen conflict.” - Vladimir Putin

Presumably Hungary is quite happy with Putin’s idea that it’s all in favor of nation statehood and self-determination as long as recognition is a gift to be bestowed or revoked at Moscow’s whim. That peace is only achieved by surrender.

The reason Putin wants all of NATO out of all the Warsaw Pact region is because Putin wants to drag them all back kicking and screaming behind a new Iron Curtain... And he knows he cannot do it if they’re protected by NATO membership.

Benjamin Rhodes, a deputy national-security adviser under President Obama, once said, “we engaged in regime change around the world. There is just enough rope for him to hang us.”

That’s literally all Putin’s got going for him as a moral defence for him unilaterally deciding 30 years of UN Charter recognition and treaties defending statehood across all of eastern Europe don’t mean a thing because in his opinion all that was once Soviet still belongs to Mother Russia.

If we all agree that the War on Terror and other adventures were catastrophic moral failures by USA and NATO, fine... But the solution has to be better than indulging Putin’s reconstructed Rashist empire as if that’s just balancing one evil out with another.

“Do you speak Hungarian?”

I wish. It’s a hard language to learn. I have several friends there that speak good English.

For the most part, I found 100% of the younger generation speak English, even in the rural areas.

I speak a little, but have family and friends there. The younger generation is mandated to choose either English or German in school and they must pass a proficiency test to graduate high school. It is an excellent system.

My father escaped Hungary in 1956. I own a home near Lake Balaton and visit often. I enjoy it there.

What Mr. Szijjártó might be implying is that the world would be better off with a few mean tweets coming from the Oval Office.

Putin probably thought that Biden was a completely addled old fool.

I’m headed back to do some lectures and be there for another month.. I’ve been there many times over the past few years.

I’m being guided to be there more for some reason. It’s a beautiful place and the people are great. Found the same in Poland.

I just spent 3 weeks north of there at Mosonmagyaróvár.

Hungary is a beautiful country with beautiful people. The alcohol problem in older men is pretty bad, but the younger generation appears full of energy and hopeful.

I was impressed the way the Hungarians opened their arms to help the Ukrainian women and children escaping the war. It moved my heart.

Interesting articles on Hungary’s energy usage and domestic gas supply:

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1235432/hungary-distribution-of-electricity-production-by-source/#:~:text=Hungary%20sources%20most%20of%20its,was%20derived%20from%20this%20source.

https://hungarytoday.hu/hungary-to-significantly-increase-domestic-gas-production/

Apparently Hungary has lots of gas, but it’s deep. As in ~2-3 miles deep. Anyone have guesses as to where prices have to be for extraction technology in 2022 to make production from such sources practical / economical? I hunted around online, but all the info. I could find was 10 or more years old.

It looks like Hungary made pretty much the same deal with the devil for gas as did Germany, however, they are even more stuck with it. For all their “independence” (in general), Hungary maybe should have bitten the bullet and built more nuclear plants or started developing their deep gas reserves. Given the policies of other EU countries, opportunities to export at a nice profit would have turned up soon enough...

I was in Poland a few months ago, a lot of Ukrainians in Warsaw. I could definitely live in the Trojmiasto area (Gdańsk/Sopot/Gdynia).

Hungry was tricked and betrayed by the Sultan’s which resulted in 150 years of Muslim rule for their Christian country. (1541 to 1699)

“The Ottomans then occupied the city, which in its turn was celebrating the liberation, with a trick: Suleiman the Magnificent invited the infant John II Sigismund Zápolya with the Hungarian noblemen into his tent, meanwhile the Turkish troops began to slowly infiltrate into the fort as “tourists” seemingly in admiration of the architecture of the buildings. However, at a sudden alert they wielded their weapons and disarmed the guards and the whole garrison thereafter.

At the same time, the Hungarian noblemen felt uncomfortable in the sultan’s tent and wanted to leave. In that moment, on the outcry of the sultan “The black soup (coffee) is still to come!” (Hungarian: “Hátra van még a feketeleves!”) the Turkish soldiers disarmed the Hungarian envoy.”

Yes, the muslim occupation of Hungary changed the culture as well. The muslim troops would confiscate all the chickens and beef, leaving the people with mostly pork. That is why you see so many Hungarian dishes based on pork.

Hungary did resist the illegal muslim migration and sent any who arrived straight to Austria.

Unfortunately, the EU granted most of the muslims citizenship which allows them free travel, so some came back to Hungary anyway.

I’m not too saavy on how EU deals with the muslims once they’ve granted them citizenship which allows them free travel.

do the put them on some type of Jizya like GMI, social security, welfare program to provide for healthcare, food & lodging

Yes, once they are given EU citizenship, the trespassers are given all social welfare programs. This is why citizens are agitated, because the programs are being depleted to take care of the new arrivals.
