Russian forces in Lyman were apparently denied permission to withdraw, because it would not look good while Putin was having his Annexation photo op party. They are now surrounded, in another large defeat (thousands).

I am not saying the AFU may not take Liman, but the press in the West is constantly exaggerating. The Military Summary Channel, which is produced by an analyst in Belarus, has generally proven accurate (of course, no one is infallible). Dima, the anaylyst, is quite candid about what he thinks is speculation and what is unknown. Today I think he is hyperventilating a bit because I suspect he is worried that the war going to escalate, and he lives in the region. No one wants to live in a war zone. The MSC is the best highly detailed daily military analysis I’ve seen. Alexander Mercouris (a Brit who used to be a lawyer) provides the military broad strokes, but also looks carefully at the larger picture.
