That’s how Stalin took Poland’s eastern half during WWII. There were some people there who had issues with Poland, but most all preferred Polish rule to Stalin’s rule.

Everyone loves when their president is overthrown in a coup and their language outlawed. You seem smart. /s

Are you referring to the Carpo-Rusyns who were told they were all Ukrainians and to stop speaking their "museum language", or the Polesians who were told they were all actually Belorussians? Ethnic Poles were only around 40% of the population in Poland's lost Eastern provinces, but they were the most numerous, and nothing suggests that the population there preferred Soviet rule to Polish rule, which was my point.
