The problem with Italy though is that the central government is weak. The power is in the hands of the Communist-dominated Unions and Cities.
It’s ‘normal’ for a coalition to fail within two to three years, and new elections get called....since 1945. What worries the EU...their election comes up in 18 months, and you could see several countries go this way prior to the EU election.
A “weak” central government should be a good thing if the local governments were accountable to the people. This is exactly what the US Constitution was designed to achieve.
It sounds like the real problem is not a weak central government but rather that the Communist-dominated Unions and Cities are too strong and unaccountable.
