Personally, I tend to go heavy on the dehydrated potatoes.
Rice is great, but when I eat it, it feels like I haven’t eaten anything. It doesn’t matter how much I ate, my stomach still feels empty. That constant feeling of hunger messes with your mind in ways that are hard to imagine unless you’ve been there. In a survival situation, anything that messes with your mind is a bad thing. So, for me at least, rice is a “once in a while” food.
Potatoes on the other hand? Those are awesome. They are very filling, can be used in all kinds of different ways, and are high in potassium (which I tend to need more of). Dry potato flakes last forever, and fresh potatoes are easy for me to grow.
Everybody has a different mix of foods that work best for them.
That for sure.
I read somewhere that some claimed if you wanted to surreptitiously grow veggies in the wild, to plant potato plants.
Most people have no idea what the plant looks like and would not know it’s food.
Might be good to keep in mind when the powers that be start coming around and confiscating foodstuffs for “fair distribution “ which means they get it and we don’t.
Think Holodomor.
