China is not buying significantly more gas - instead the agreement is that the hard up Russians will now accept Chinese monopoly money, instead of hard currencies for what they had been selling anyway.

The gas that had been going to Europe cannot be physically transported to other customers. There are no new pipelines heading that way. The existing one (Power of Siberia) can operate at peak, but that is all. That pipeline is from different gas fields than the Yamal fields that service Europe. There is no slack LNG terminal capacity to export that (formerly) European product. That is why the European bound product is now just being burnt off in flares that are visible from space with the naked eye.

This new agreement is a benefit to China, because they can and do print that Chinese funny money like drunken sailors. Now they don’t have to pay some of their gas bill with real money any more.

At this rate, they will probably own Gazprom in a couple of years, for a penny on the dollar.

The Chinese will not pay funny money to the Russians for energy. The Chinese will replace the Warsaw Pact junk just lost in Ukraine with the latest Chicom military technology for payment. I guess it’s OK for the US to print, with dark money included, a hundred billion in our own funny money and pi$$ it away in Ukraine this year? I guess you’re saying their funny money is funnier than ours? Remember, the west is beginning to print funny money to subsidize their consumers’ purchase of wildly inflated natural gas (Britain, 150 billion pounds). Pretty damn funny. Brother, you need to take a look at the CF US economy before you start casting aspersions. The Russian and Chinese have a reasonable chance of recovering. We have just now been driven into the ground by our green masters in DC. The DC maniacs are just getting started. You’d best hope Russia finds a way to get that gas onto the world market. Without it you see the effect upon the price every consumer in the world must pay. But Huzzah, we are forcing Putin to revamp the way he supplies energy to the rest of the non western, non suicidal world for the foreseeable future. We can change our gulf coast terminals to windmill loading docks. Those poor foolish Russians.
