Gov. Cooper’s Race-Preferences Brief is Inherently Discriminatory

On August 1st, Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina submitted an amicus brief siding with the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in its attempt to use race as a factor in university admissions.

The amicus brief comes at a time when the future of affirmative action is being litigated in the Supreme Court. A group called Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA), which represents college students who allege discrimination based on their status as members of a non-preferred race, has sued both UNC and Harvard University for violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VI prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin in programs receiving federal financial assistance. Both of the universities in question receive such support, as UNC is a public institution, and Harvard received a $179.5 million federal grant in 2018 alone, the single largest sum of any university that year. Nevertheless, both universities are proponents of a “race-conscious” admissions policy, set up in the name of “diversity.”

Asian Americans have suffered the consequences of university “diversity” policies more than most. Many qualified Asian applicants have been rejected from their dream schools because there were simply too many of them, and they did not fit into universities’ ideal racial balances. Asian American applicants to Harvard have, on average, SAT scores that are over 217 points higher than those of black applicants and over 24 points higher than those of whites. Still, many well-qualified Asian applicants have been replaced by other minority candidates who underperform according to objective metrics, all for the sake of an “inclusive college campus.”

I see how this works. Ban the “Smart” kid from colleges because he/she is the “Wrong” race. Let the kid in who is of the “special” race even if DUMBER THAN A ROCK.

Give the “special” kid all kinds of student loans for a useless degree like gender studies knowing full well they will NEVER repay them. Then forgive a portion of the loans to ensure they vote DEMOCRAT.

I think that ALL these “special” kids must be named ED!!! “Special” is just their nickname!!

All democrats think this way. It’s always about race or sexual preference. It’s never about merit. Just look at our current Biden administration. The LGTBQ crowd is well represented even though its population is less than 2%.

Favoring unqualified blacks over ALL other races allows white liberal 'elites' in academia to lie about research, eff their students and rip off parents on the outragous costs of 'an education'.

Underperforming students have no incentive to do better since they know the government will not let them fail regardless of how poorly they do.
