Well the Sig or Hornady defensive rounds for a .45 expand to well over 17 mm from 11.5.
Mine is bigger than yours 😉
Oh, also there’s 1 in the chamber and 10 in the mag, plus an extra 10 rnd mag for my walk-in-the-woods kit. Sig P220 full frame.

Well e=1/2mv^2
The much greater velocity of the 10mm being squared spanks the .45 in energy delivered to the target.

No argument there.
10mm is a great cartridge.
I picked the .45 as part of an overall plan to have readily available ammo across platforms.
.22
.223/ 5.56
.308/ 7.62
.45
12 gauge
There’s a couple 9mm in the family armory for the ladies who decided the .45 hurt their wrists too much to effectively practice.
And two .380 pocket pistols for less permissive environments.
But broadly the family runs the calibers listed above.

Good choice. If you have to scrounge ammo in a SHTF zombie apocalypse, there will be a lot more .45 and 9mm lying around than 10mm.

Yes, but the gun weight about 4 pounds with all of that ammo.
Life is about tradeoffs. I love the 45, but not for everyday carry.

Don't stop for anyone. Call 911 instead.Damn right. It seems that these days, an time the words "good Samaritan" are used it is to describe somebody who was murdered after trying to help someone.

That’s true. You always know when your .45 is fully loaded.
For EDC I have a Sprinfield XDS in .45. MUCH smaller/lighter.
No way you can conceal a P220 with an extended mag. It’s my woods gun/ keep in the truck gun.

I know a case where a druggie broke down a door with home owner warning him to stop. Robber was shot 4 times with 45 auto and survived. (obviously the bullet placement was not good) Home owner was not harmed.

Well regardless of the caliber, some level of skill is always helpful.
