Attorney General Merrick Garland is my concern for the next 2+ years. Even after the R’s take over congress, they won’t have a super-majority. And they won’t be able to stop Garland’s activities. Congressional investigations won’t result in prosecutions without Garland’s approval.
I suppose the only option for the R’s is to gut the budgets of the DOJ and FBI.

That is exactly right. Which is why the next Congress needs to get rid of Trump enemy McConnell as Majority Leader and Frank Luntz housemate McCarthy (Paul Ryan with a tan and blow dry) as Speaker. There is no way a darn thing positive will happen with those two left in charge.
