Joe used to be so reasonable. What happened?

That's what I was thinking too, but I can never understand how a reasonable man could allow such a thing to happen to him. Lots of 'em do though. I guess it's just foreign to me so I find it very hard to understand.

My take on it is this: I think Joe was a bachelor for a long time and probably dated lots of women, many of them "liberals" (a misnomer) and was eventually influenced by them. I don't know whether that's true or not. I don't even know Joe; so I'm only guessing.
