When I was in the Marine Corps, in the 80s and 90s, there was a joke about “don’t ask, don’t tell”.

It went something like:
“Used to, you couldn’t be a homosexual and be in the Marine Corps.
Then, it was optional, if you don’t tell anyone.
I’m going to get out before they make it mandatory!”

Well, it would seem those who disagree with homosexuality are being expunged from the ranks...what once was a joke, seems to have become a reality.

You would think the whole world has turned into a Babylon Bee article!!

In the early 1960s my husband was a training officer at a military base in Texas.
He was responsible for 10 of the old 2 story barracks with all male recruits.
If the trainee was found to be unsuitable for a wide range of reasons, they would be moved to the “casual” barracks until their discharge came through.
One day husband came home and told me that there had been a “wedding” in the casual barracks.
Being little more than a teenager at the time, I thought that was the most hilarious thing I had ever heard of.
Fast forward 60 years and I am appalled to see what has happened to the US military.
When I see these military “men” in drag I am reminded of Uncle Miltie dressed up as Carmen Miranda with a bowl of fruit on his head.
I don’t find it hilarious now. It is horrifying that our national security is in their hands.
