Because that could easily change. It’s a zoonotic disease. All it would take is for one infected person to transmit it t an animal in North America, and eventually it would spread all over North America. The more infected people, the more opportunities there are to transmit it to animals and make it a permanently endemic disease in North America. Currently we have to vaccinate all mammalian pets against Rabies. In the future if the US doesn’t get a handle on this epidemic right now, we might be required to vaccinate our pets against Monkeypox.

Maybe, might, could, possibly, theoretically,…..

All that panic porn over hypotheticals.

Why not have all illicit sexual activity stop for a month and watch the disease disappear?

That would be the easier, common sense solution to a sexually transmitted disease like monkeypox.
