Following Wednesday’s news that millions of barrels of oil released from America’s Strategic Petroleum Reserves were shipped overseas to China, India, and Europe, it has been revealed that nearly one million barrels of oil were sent to a Chinese energy company in which President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, had a stake as recently as 2015.
On Wednesday, Reuters revealed that more than five million barrels of crude oil that were expected to be put into use in the US to bring down skyrocketing prices at the pump were instead sent to European nations, India, as well as China.
In April, the Biden administration announced that 950,000 Strategic Petroleum Reserve barrels would be sold to Unipec, the trading arm of the China Petrochemical Corporation. Formerly known as Sinopec, this company is wholly owned by the Chinese government, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
The sales of these barrels, as well as others as part of the sales of 30 million barrels in total, "will support American consumers and the global economy in response to Vladimir Putin’s war of choice against Ukraine," the Department of Energy said in a statement, as well as "address the pain Americans are feeling at the pump as a result of Putin’s Price Hike and to help lower energy costs."

During the last 30 years, whenever the Republicans controlled Congress, there have been numerous investigative hearings. GOP senators and representatives expressed outrage during the hearings, in speeches, in constituent letters, and on cable news shows. In the end, it was all noise. Eric Holder did not go to jail for ignoring a Congressional subpoena. Bill Clinton was not convicted in his Senate trial. Hillary was not removed from office or prosecuted for her email server, Benghazi, and influence peddling through the Clinton Foundation. Lindsay Graham refused to investigate Hunter Biden and assured us Joe Biden is a good man. Obama got away with flying billions of dollars in cash to Iran. Sandy Berger did not go to prison for stealing and destroying records from the National Archives. Lois Lerner retired with a fat government pension. John Brennan and James Clapper perjured themselves in Congressional testimony and today enjoy government pensions and lucrative appearances on cable news. James Comey and other members of the FBI committed multiple felonies trying to bring down President Trump yet none have been tried or punished.
Do you hear any powerful GOP leaders demanding Comey be arrested and put on trial? Brennan or Clapper? Hunter? Of course not. They have already moved on.
McConnell, Thune, Cornyn have no interest in conducting any meaningful Senate investigation into Biden, Pelosi, Hillary or any Democrat. The McConnell Senate during the Trump years was in on the Russia collusion farce and fully supported the fake Mueller investigation. When you live in a glass house you don’t throw stones. A future McConnell Senate will spend its time hiding earmarks and special legislation for donors and multinational corporations in 10,000 page bills. They won’t expose corruption or attempt to reform the out of control bureaucracy.
Speaker McCarthy might allow a few noisy investigations in the House, which will never be covered by the mainstream media, to throw some red meat at the voter base, but nothing will happen as a result. I vividly remember the Republican pit bull Trey Gowdy making all kinds of noise during the Boehner and Ryan tenures as Speaker of the House. It was all show. Jim Jordan will be McCarthy’s show dog and his RNC fundraising letters, filled with outrage at the Democrats, will generate millions in small donation from conservative voters believing this time the Republicans are serious about saving the country.
The Republicans have no platform for the upcoming election and are making no promises for what they will do if they capture Congress. They are poised to put the same old establishment leadership in place if they do win. My expectation is McConnell has not changed and will do what he always does — insider deals for special interests and compromise with Democrats. McCarthy is cut from the same mold as John Boehner and Paul Ryan. Pragmatic politicians, not revolutionaries. Washington insiders will not investigate powerful insiders, will not reverse any of the damage the Democrats have done and will not make America great again. Willing collaborators are always part of the problem.
