I just got back from the grocery store. I was shocked, SHOCKED! to see how high some of the prices were now as compared to just two months ago.
I get store brand margarine. It used to cost $1 for four sticks. It’s now $1.59. Campbell’s soup where I shop is now $2.00 a can. Last year it was $1.59. The pasta shelf is almost bare. All that is left is high-priced gluten-free stuff. A scrawny beef roast (select grade) weighing 1 1/2 pounds is $14.00. Shelf after shelf empty or almost empty.
Why are people just accepting this? There should be a march on Washington demanding that we start drilling for oil and natural gas so truckers can afford to drive groceries to the market again. My state is the Saudi Arabia of natural gas. We have oil, too. What happens this winter when people can’t afford to eat or heat their homes? We have natural gas that can be exploited to drive down energy prices but it can’t be used because it’s a fossil fuel? What is this madness?
This is unacceptable. And I don’t hear any Republicans in Congress saying what they’d do about this. They’re toothless wonders. It’s like we have to accept shortages and high prices as the new normal. This country is beginning to resemble Soviet Russia where people lined up for a loaf of bread or a pair of shoes only to discover when they finally got to the head of the line there was nothing left.
I absolutely hate what this country is becoming under the Marxist thugs now running things. And the “opposition” party is a joke. It doesn’t exist. How McConnell and McCarthy can take their paychecks is beyond me.
