Good advice. Might scare you even into not checking in your baggage for that overseas flight. Travel light, hand washable clothes.
I have no trouble checking in bags. I travel in office casual clothes and am well groomed when going through customs. If you're worried about someone tampering with your checked luggage, you can always get it wrapped in plastic.
