Prayers up for all. So sorry that this has happened. ๐๐ป
Heavenly Father,
Bring aid and comfort to this mother in distress. Let her know that her lost son has found his way into your care and give her peace. Let her find joy and happiness in the two sons she still holds dear. Give her sons the strength to help their mother in her hour of need and let them all be stronger together. Let them remember and honor their sibling for doing right and setting an example. Let them learn wisdom, bravery, and caution in their proper measure in all situations.
In Jesus’ name I pray! Amen.

“He’d tried to stop a man from injuring a woman. The man ended up stabbing and killing the young man.”
You lost me here. Who is ‘HE” when you were talking about your DIL? I got confused here.
How terribly sad! My prayers are with them.
I’m sorry for your and your former daughter in law’s loss. I have a friend of mine who got beat up pretty bad in college trying to intervene against a man who was beating up his girlfriend. My friend is about 6’3” and was in excellent shape. The girlfriend turned against my friend as soon as he tried to intervene. Our common friends came to the conclusion that it’s a bad idea to get involved in those kinds of situations.

“But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” Matthew 24:37
The days are evil and full of violence. Our nation along with rest of the world, will be visited soon.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
God will wipe away our tears if we seek refuge in Him, surrender our lives to His will and Purpose and wait patiently for His Salvation.
Psalm 46
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, โBe still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.โ
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
