Trump Warns About Gun Deal – “First Step In The Movement To Take Your Guns Away”
the palmieri report ^ | June 22, 2022 | PRSTAFF

Posted on 06/22/2022 9:02:49 AM PDT by SoConPubbie

President Donald Trump issued a major warning about the new senate gun control bill that has been advanced in the senate.

Trump warned that this bill “will go down in history as the first step in the movement to take your guns away.”

From TruthSocial:

The deal on “Gun Control” currently being structured and pushed in the Senate by the Radical Left Democrats, with the help of Mitch McConnell, RINO Senator John Cornyn of Texas, and others, will go down in history as the first step in the movement to TAKE YOUR GUNS AWAY. Republicans, be careful what you wish for!!!

This is another example of Trump breaking with the GOP establishment.

PRIOR ARTICLE ON THE BILL:

A bipartisan gun deal was announced late Tuesday night.

Bipartisan Gun Deal Reached – Conservative Base Reacts

The NRA officially has responded by saying it will oppose the legislation.

🚨BREAKING: NRA Announces Opposition to Senate Gun Control Legislation

"This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, & use fed dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state & local politicians." pic.twitter.com/tXriTiWLzw

— NRA (@NRA) June 21, 2022

From NRA.org:

The NRA will support legislation that improves school security, promotes mental health services, and helps reduce violent crime. However, we will oppose this gun control legislation because it falls short at every level. It does little to truly address violent crime while opening the door to unnecessary burdens on the exercise of Second Amendment freedom by law-abiding gun owners.

This legislation can be abused to restrict lawful gun purchases, infringe upon the rights of law-abiding Americans, and use federal dollars to fund gun control measures being adopted by state and local politicians. This bill leaves too much discretion in the hands of government officials and also contains undefined and overbroad provisions – inviting interference with our constitutional freedoms.

Decisions by the Supreme Court of the United States in the Heller and McDonald cases make clear that the Second Amendment is an individual constitutional freedom. We will always fight for those freedoms – and the fundamental values we have defended for over 150 years.

If they want to stop school violence, start with the schools. Harden the schools and perhaps train police to protect students. Instead of giving million more to the teachers unions, send the money t the schools to buy on site protective gear that can be dispensed in seconds to LEO’s on site.

Bump stocks were nothing more than a ridiculous piense of equipment for the ‘gun range commandos’. The fact they were even an issue is beyond me.

If fully automatic weapons are against the law, then it is not a stretch to include bumpstocks. Not that I agree with banning fully automatic weapons. But still there seems to be good reasons to ban RPGs, no? So now it’s a matter of where you draw that line. Red flag laws have no line, they are all or nothing.

Whats the point of taking back the Senate with “Republicans” who lick commie ass and do whatever they want..some in the GOP are like the Dems just better dressed

Two points:

1. The hope is that with the endorsement of Trump (and any conversations he had with those candidates before he endorsed them) that they will more closely toe the MAGA line.
2. You go to war with the Army you have, not the one you wish you had. We are out of time as a nation, either we push back now, with whatever "Army" we have, or we lose the opportunity to push back. We CANNOT let Perfection (absolute fidelity to the MAGA Agenda) be the enemy of the Good (What we can actually achieve right now).

The bump stock ban is 100x worse, because it was a regulatory action with no legislative accountability. Banned arbitrarily.

Complete BS. It's how you define and implement the fully automatic weapons ban. That was passed by the legislature and executive branches, and upheld by the judiciary.

So many on here whine about his other picks. Everyone of them had to get the nod of McConnell. Otherwise they weren’t going anywhere.

This is the TRUTH that so many here on FreeRepublic who are whining about his Appointments either are ignorant of or purposefully leave out of their rant.

McConnell was the road-block.

And when enough liberal move to:

Tennessee: Nashville Knoxville Chattanooga Johnson City and a few other cities, as hipsters love to move to small and destroy them, liberals will enable Democrat Governors, giving you a purple state.

Georgia: it may have what you call a “deep red legislature”. Sure. They’ve been rolling over like dying cockroaches as Kemp dishes out taxpayer money to every liberal company and industry he can find willing to take the bribes.

One Senator wanted to lower and cap the film credit to $900million. He was told to shut up and sit in the corner.
Kemp is giving the LARGEST tax package to an unproven EV car company, partly owned by Soros.
Liberals have taken over the 6th Congressional district via mass immigration from other parts of the country
About 11 or 12 counties in Georgia, all BLUE, could soon have enough people in them to drown out the Conservative vote as they in so many other states.
And with Mail In Voting and Drop Boxes now codified and still using Dominion machines, Nov 2022 will be interesting.

Any Republican voting for this bill needs to be primaried.

No more backstabbers.

Vote them out of office no matter what the costs...

That doesn’t matter in this case.

All of them are either safe for another 4 or 5 years or are retiring.

And by then, after they pass the amnesty they’ve been wanting to pass for years, it won’t matter as all the amnesty recipients will be allowed to vote, sooner than anyone thinks. The groundwork has already been laid.

To add bumpstocks to the NFA, and treat them as machine guns is one thing, but in the case of bumpstocks there was just executive action. No law passed, no debate in the house and senate. Which is the thing I massively disagreed with. It would be the same if V8 engines were banned by executive action. And RPGs, I can kind of get onboard with; however I believe destructive devices would include bthings like that. If that went away, I think you’d still have a lot of companies that wouldn’t sell to civilians for a while.

1911 Turkey disarms its citizens:
Shortly thereafter, 1.5 million Armenians are murdered.

1929 Russia disarms its citizens:
Over the next 24 years, 20 million Russians are murdered.

1935 China disarms its citizens:
Between 1948 and 1952, 20 million Chinese are murdered.

1938 German disarms its citizens:
Over the next 7 years, 6 million Jews are murdered.

1956 Cambodia disarms its citizens:
1975-1977, one million people are murdered.

1964 Guatemala disarms its citizens:
Thereafter, 100,000 Mayans are murdered.

1970 Uganda disarms its citizens:
Over the next decade, 100,000 Christians are murdered.

2012 Venezuela disarms its citizens:
2022, we are seeing the result.

Why would anyone want to disarm law abiding US citizens????

To add bumpstocks to the NFA

In essence, that is what Trump did. It's all in how the law is interpreted and implemented. But I already told you that if you bothered to read this thread.

Good to see Mr. Trump taking this position. He appears to have become a stronger supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

Frankly I was more troubled by his earlier Red Flag support than the bump stock ban.

Which of this year's candidates will make the repeal of this law a campaign objective?

That is complete BS. The NFA legislation in no way should cover bump stocks as written. It is regulatory overreach, thanks to Trump and the ATF.

With a bump stock the trigger is actuated for each shot. It is not a machine gun as defined by the NFA. Period.

26 U.S.C. § 5845(b) For the purposes of the National Firearms Act the term Machinegun means: Any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.

You are just wrong. A bump stock is all about rapid fire, simulating fully auto.

Read the damn bill. “Rapid fire” is not banned by legislation. Simulating automatic isn’t banned by legislation. One thing is banned: pull trigger once, multiple bullets come out of barrel. That is not what a bump stock does. If “simulating” fully automatic fire was illegal, Jerry Miculek would be banned.
