Great movie but I still like Star Trek: The Motion Picture, especially the recent updated directors edition that has been rereleased in movie theaters recently.

The Voyage Home is the greatest Star Trek film of all time.

I think Wrath of Khan is better, but only just.
The two of them qualify as the best Sci-Fi movies ever made.

I have no problem with that. It added humor to the franchise. “There be whales”.

Greatest movie ever made!

Disagree. It was way too eco-preachy for me. Like some sort of powerful being was going to come back to Earth to... sing like a whale? Stupid plot. Sierra-club ecoweenie nonsense.
Now the Wrath of Kahn, THAT! That was a MOVIE.

Lmao! I was waiting for someone to post that. I knew it was coming.

The period of the 1980s to the early 1990s was mostly great. One good thing was looking forward to another Star Trek movie every two years and most of them were good to okay. Even seeing the familiar characters in one of the less-than-good movies made the experience okay.

The Voyage Home is the greatest Star Trek film of all time. Agreed completely! Leonard Nimoy did a fantastic job directing. He knew exactly how to mix the drama and comedy, and got very ingratiating and genial performances out of the whole company, particularly Shatner.
A real classic.

The TV series had great humor. They sure gave it up for that first whacked-out movie, though.
To: Fai Mao
There are some great "behind the scenes" photos from that film.

Strangely enough Chekhov was not in the TV episode.
