Board Recommends Parole For Charles Manson Follower Who Murdered Several People

Patricia Krenwinkel, a former Charles Manson follower, was recommended for release by a California parole board for the first time Thursday.

The now-74-year-old was convicted of seven counts of first degree murder in the killings that left seven people dead in August of 1969, according to CNN. One of the victims was pregnant actress Sharon Tate, who was married to director Roman Polanski. Tate had been spending the night with friends at her home on Cielo Drive in Los Angeles when the murder took place. One of her friends that was murdered was coffee heiress Abigail Folger, who Krenwinkel confessed to stabbing several times.

Krenwinkel also helped murder grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary the night after the Tate murders. She confessed to stabbing Leno LaBianca in the stomach and writing messages, most famously “Helter Skelter,” with the man’s blood on the walls of his home.

Hope I don’t get a ton of flack for this comment………

So Charles Manson was in prison until he died. Even if he lived he was never getting out.

But the confusion for me is, Manson didn’t actually kill anyone.

He played mind games, he groomed his followers and eventually encouraged them to kill Tate and others.

But just like taxing cigarettes non stop because we hate smokers so much and no one objects……..Manson shouldn’t have been in prison for as long as he was since he didn’t commit the acts.
But no one objected to it.

Now we have people in prison for Jan. 6th because why? Because the Left hates them as they support Trump.

Always if it happens once or a few times without protest or objections, it’s an invite to happen again and again.

There. I feel better now.

Wonder what happened to the other women in the Manson cult who did not take part in the Tate murder. It would be interesting to learn what became of them.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation wants to parole older convicts like Krenwinkel in order to save money. It passes on their health care costs to someone else.

I remember it, like it was yesterday. It was a hot, humid August Saturday morning in Detroit in ‘69. I turned on our Zenith Television set to discover that something important had happened while we were sleeping. All the national networks (we only had 3 back then) ABC, NBC, and CBS, had preempted regular broadcasting with concerned and exasperated reporting about what was being described like some nightmare about a murder house of horrors. News cameras were showing the front of the house. A slaughterhouse with spurious reports about people hanging from the ceiling, a dead pregnant woman whose stomach was slit open, and dead bodies everywhere. Something written on the door that reporters said looked like blood. And the name of an actress I never heard of before, but would later find out I had seen a year or two before in a movie called ‘The Fearless Vampire Killers’. Early reports are often wrong and misleading, as most of these were, but as the truth eventually came into focus, just as nightmarish and horrific. Only to be repeated to an unfortunate couple a few days later.

The nation was captivated by the news, the horrific details, and subsequent trial. We all had pictured in our minds the terrible last moments and death struggles of each of the victims. We came to know them as if they were almost distant relatives. But finely it came to the proper conclusion, as the perpetrators were found guilty and sentenced to death. A proper ending and justice for the poor victims. It was over, and the nation had closer.

Then bleeding hearts in California had the death sentences commuted to life in prison. Then more trials, with the possibility of parole. And the national wound was opened again, and carried to some degree by many of us who remember. Patricia Krenwinkel should have been executed a long time ago, and yet she goes on living, like most of the others, with the possibility to be free again. A temporary punishment, for crimes that sentenced their victims to painful deaths that were permanent and irrevocable.

Under the long-standing legal theory of "parties to a crime" he is just as guilty as the person who actually held the knife or pulled the trigger.I believe the language is "counsels, procures, encourages, or otherwise induces another to commit a crime."

Otherwise you never get the gang leader. Masterminds having their underlings (usually minors) do their dirty work to try to avoid prosecution is nothing new. Goes back to at least 18th c. England and "The Beggar's Opera".

Pretty sure that Manson was charged under party to a crime as well as conspiracy to commit murder.

That’s was an excellent explanation.

I get it now.

Thank you very much.

No problem! No reason to know if you aren’t in the business (I used to be a trial lawyer).

My brother is my legal counselor.

The last time he “helped me” with a legal problem, I spent 4 days a week going to and from the court house filing papers and getting a stamp on my copy.

I didn’t want his office working for me for free.

Did this for a month! Every time the other side filed something, so did we, and every time we filed something, so did they!

Got to the point were I just wanted to settle and be free again! 😆🤣😂🤪

I never wanted to meet ANY of my friends professionally!

As a lesser legal light, Mr. Chief Justice Codd, said, "Avoid litigation. You never know where you are."

(CJ Codd was one of the characters in a series of Punch articles by A.P. Herbert, who had a niche market making fun of lawyers and judges. Very popular with the lawyering set.)
