He didn’t come up with it. Like everything else it was written for him by a scriptwriter. I guess it was meant to be funny since Trump always referred to Covid as the (China) Plague.
The pause between ‘horrible plague’ and ‘followed by’ was deliberate. I understood the feeble attempt at humor . Didn’t make me laugh though.
