Well, considering Citizen Kane bombed at the box office not unlike Heaven's Gate, one would have to decide if they are in the business of film making for the money or for the critical acclaim. Art for art's sake may look very nice in Latin around a roaring lion, but getting "Two thumbs up" doesn't pay for the celluloid.

Years ago my wife and I watched Citizen Kane after hearing about how famous it was. We didn’t like it. Reading later I see that we weren’t smart enough to recognize it as “art”.

As a young teen I remember watching “Missouri Breaks” with Jack Nicholson and Marlon Brando. What a GREAT MOVIE!!

It came on TV several years ago and I set the DVD and was excited to watch my favorite movie again after all these years.

I made it about 10 minutes in, and then started forwarding to what might look like good parts. There weren’t any!
