An American Airlines pilot recently suffered a severe cardiac arrest six minutes after landing a plane at Dallas-Fort Worth, narrowly avoiding a catastrophe for everyone onboard. You can just hear the drama in this reporters voice. This is exactly why they have 2 pilots.

Still though, imagine the pilot on approach. The crew begins descent. As the plane gets hundreds of feet from/above the runway...the cockpit experiences an emergency. The pilot has a heart attack and yanks the controls in some odd violent way as his body reacts to the severe chest pains and attempting to hang on to life.
It could happen.
