Exactly. I don't recall all the details but the Paul Harvey piece he did some years ago was quite a thing.

As I recall, he was responsible for essentially saving his unit when supplies were air dropped...something like that. I'll have to revisit the story.

What happened was Serling and his good buddy had survived a fierce battle battle outside of Manila and were being air dropped supplies. His buddy was standing a few feet from Serling when a large crate, on which the parachute failed to open struck and killed his friend.
