The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Monday referred two more former Trump administration officials for criminal charges for their refusal to testify.

The committee voted 9-0 in favor of referring criminal charges for former Trump White House aides Dan Scavino Jr. and Peter Navarro. That recommendation will now be sent to the full House of Representatives for a vote. If that vote passes, the referral would be passed on to the Justice Department.

“These men, Mr. Scavino and Mr. Navarro are in contempt of Congress,” the committee’s chairman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said ahead of the vote on Monday. “They potentially played a part in an attack on American democracy.”

Actually post 14 is exactly right on. Peter Navarro was maybe the only home-run personnel choice of Trump’s administration. Dems can’t afford to let him run around loose and free.

this will be fun to watch. Navarro and Scavino are bulldogs and take no crap. They are not afraid to speak their minds and let it rip. By the time Navarro and Scavino are done, the J6 committee idiots will be under the desk crying and asking for mommy.

Hi.

The “committee” voted 9-0.

Looks like they are short two members, otherwise this is not a duly established Congessional “committee.”

Oops, nevermind Rodger’s and House rules don’t apply when democrats run things.

Do they really want to set this precedent? They are up in 7 months and it will be much uglier for them. Can’t wait to see them in the hot seat.

“They potentially played a part in an attack on American democracy.”
= = =

They mean Democrats when they say ‘democracy’.

If they would say ‘Republic’, I envision than their innermost parts would regurgitate, volcano-like, spewing out their mouths (and maybe other orfices).

No, ‘Rogers’, as in ‘Mr. Rogers’ pre-school TV show!

Does a committee of Congress have the same powers as a Grand Jury?

Does Congress, or one of its committees, have the power to convict someone of a crime and punish them, as if they were an Article III court, or a State court?

C’mon, man! This is the Federalist 101!

It is my understanding that the Jan 6 committee was not formed properly. If true, the committee has no authority ... at all.

I don't care if this was an Act of Congress that passed the House 435-0, the Senate 100-0, and was signed by the President.

It is a Bill of Attainder, it is an attempt to pass an Ex Post Facto law, and it is an attempt to exercise powers forbidden to Congress by the Constitution that created it.
