B. And no wages were cut ... simply that lower starting wages were discussed for NEW employees, with the higher wages of existing staff being maintained ...
The policy wasn’t to cut salaries for existing employees, just lower the entry level that was probably artificially high from trying to re-staff after lock downs. The new employees can take it or hold out for higher pay somewhere else.
