I do hope Putin’s generals are as clueless as you are.
Look at how many men it took to take Kiev in 1941 or 1943. The forces Putin is assembling is not a siege. It is an isolated collection of targets.
“Look at how many men it took to take Kiev in 1941 or 1943.”
Apparently you believe modern Ukrainian society is as stalwart as the society in WWII. I find the notion absurd.
Additionally, again, it is not necessary to “take” a city if you want to demonstrate control and the ability to do so if necessary.
50,000 men, 1,000 tubes and 1,000 tanks on their doorstep demonstrates a lot of reality:
- The ability to move force and place it where desired. And keep it there, reinforce it a necessary.
- The ability to enforce blockade.
While 1,000 tubes and 1,000 tanks MAY not be enough to “take” Kiev, it’s enough to level it to the ground. All of it.
Because the Russians can keep shipping fuel and munitions at will, indefinitely. And everyone knows it.
And there’s no relief column on its way. They don’t even have the small hope of Vercingetorix and the Russians don’t have to protect their flank.
While I can understand the romantic hope of a noble people in their grand redoubt holding off the evil assault, the reality is Ukraine will soon be forced to capitulation and surrender.
