According to the article this is a very important case to the community. They probably want everyone who has worked on the case present in order to answer questions, including investigators, members of the alphabet agencies and the DNA lab.
Very likely the community gave this little girl a funeral back in the day and many will be extremely happy to have a name for her headstone. Think of it as a combined late birthday/coming out party for their little girl. I can see the reason for that.
True on your comments.
The Sheriffs Office did not have the funds to do the DNA tests so they asked the community in January 2022 for help. Individuals came through with non-taxpayer money.
That’s the way the Prescott area operates. You ask for help and people come through.
Horrible they named her a nobody.
“That’s the way the Prescott area operates. You ask for help and people come through.”
This reminds me of story I saw on one of the cold case shows called “The Woman in the Box.”
Back in the 70’s a murdered woman was found in a box in a rural area. No id, no missing persons report, nothing. Not wanting her to be forgotten the community raised the funds for a grave, casket and headstone.
Meanwhile elsewhere detectives were investigating the disappearance of a man’s wife but got nowhere. Twenty years later the woman’s brother in law came forward and said he saw his brother and father building a box in the shed about the time the wife disappeared. When he asked what the box was for his brother told him it was “none of his business” and his dad told him it was “better if he didn’t know.” When police asked him why it took him so long to give the information he only said “daddy is dead now and I can clear my conscience.”
The Lady in the Box turned out to be his sister in law who had been killed by her husband.
It’s stories like those little town Ohioans and the one out of Prescott,AZ that give me hope that all isn’t lost.
Good on ya Prescott!

Consider the "coincidental" timing, on the IDes of March which falls this year right before the Fast of Esther and Purim, the story known for its convoluted plot and identity revelation.
Body discovered July 31, 1960

July 31, 1960 --
Lieutenant Columbo, the fictional TV detective who would be more famously portrayed by actor Peter Falk, was introduced in a 90-minute episode of the anthology series The Chevy Mystery Show,[67] shown at 9:00 Eastern time on NBC. Bert Freed[68] was the first to portray Lieutenant Columbo, described as "a police detective harassing the doctor".,[69] though actor Richard Carlson (who portrayed a psychiatrist who murdered his wife) received top billing in the teleplay, titled "Enough Rope".
This was the inspiration for the first Columbo episode (Feb 20, 1968). ("Prescription: Murder")
Dr. Ray Flemming (Gene Barry), a psychiatrist, murders his wife (Nina Foch) and persuades his mistress Joan Hudson (Katherine Justice*), who is an actress and one of his patients, to support his alibi by impersonating her.
Final clue/twist: Columbo stages the suicide of Flemmings mistress, then urges him to confess now that the love of his life has killed herself for him. Flemming mocks Columbo's words, saying he never cared deeply for Joan and would have gotten rid of her eventually, anyway. Joan, listening in, agrees to testify against Flemming.
The impersonation began when they checked in for Flight 12A, which boarded at Gate 35 [יהודי] for Acapulco [לאקפולקו, 353].

Beauty contests:
*Justice was born and grew up in Ohio. She briefly was the 1960 Miss Ohio Universe, but wasn't able to compete in the Miss Universe competition when it was discovered she was 17, under the minimum 18 year age limit.

Glad I didn’t finish watching it.
As fate would have it, I taught [33 yrs]in the school that was eventually built on the site of the circus fire.
The night custodians, used to say, they could hear sounds of screaming as they plodded thru their nightly duties.
A modest memorial was built to remember the tragedy, on/at the fire/school site
People come from far and near to the memorial b/c they have some connection to the fire in their past. Some lost family or friends; some saying **I was supposed to go...** but didn't.
Closure is good in both instances.
!!!
The infamous blaze started when the big top tent, coated with a gasoline and paraffin mixture, caught fire and trapped circus-goers inside either burning them to death or suffocating them in searing heat.
That's got to be one of most dreadful stories I've ever read!
Also what I don't understand is how or what could this little girl have to do with an obscure actress and her tenuous association through Japanese romaji and Hebrew numerology?
It’s not the literal story line about nabbing a perp (although if that happens, great!)
It’s the weird, seemingly unrelated data points that match up in the oddest ways. Columbo debuts the day the body is found, the plot of the story being one of impersonation, concealed identity.
The identity of the little girl was not ever discovered, but now there’s going to be an announcement about that, arriving just ahead of Purim.
She was buried, identified as “the pure of heart.”
The same as those with a target always on their backs for not bowing to the PTB, inflaming the establishment for asking simple, reasonable questions and rejecting dysfunction.
Etc. It’s like a fine painting; you mustn’t rush up to it, or read it in reverse. :)
Yeah. I bit on it too.
23 and Me is the LE’s friend.
Not that I agree or disagree whether it’s a good thing.
But they no longer need DNA from a suspect, they can search for siblings, parents, or children.
It’s amazing technology. I worked on the software for a DNA sequencer once.
Me too. I.E. the Golden State Killer
Little Miss Nobody was identified as Sharon Lee Gallegos of New Mexico.
The family’s spokesman, a sister’s son, is unsure whether the remaining family members want to reintern Sharon or keep her in Prescott.
Thanks for the ping.
If she was part of my family I would go with leaving her in Prescott. Shes part of the Prescott community now.
Just my 2 cents.
Rest In Peace Sharon Lee Gallegos.
The update.
