If a person didn’t know any better, one might think the US looked at Venezuela and said, “Here, hold my beer.”
I was in Russia several times when I worked on a RCCL ship in 2005. The hot T-shirt the street vendors were selling had the “NO” symbol (red circle & slash) over the hammer & sickle with the caption THE PARTY’S OVER.
One thing I’ll say, when hanging out in the ship’s crew-bar, any of the ex-USSR crew did NOT appreciate calling them “comrade” even as a casual funny-thing.
