The idea of royalty in this day and age is an insult.

They've always had royalty. The problem is when a country w/o royals, like ours, starts treating elected officials as royalty and not public servants.

Not at all. The throne provides a cultural coherence, a unity, to the British people. The Queen is much loved; she has done a great deal for charity. The British Royal Family is also a cash cow for the UK. Their presence, their houses, the sports and industries and activities they support, attract many tourists from all over the world, who leave their money in the UK in the hands of British people.

The UK, like the US and the West in general, is circling the drain. Any institution that preserves our cultural heritage and our civilization should be supported.
