Well, there are a ton of pre-coronation rituals that William will have to perform with the new king when QE2 goes, relating to Prince of Wales title. Charles went through all that long ago in the ‘60s.
Nothing says hidebound tradition like hidebinding tradition, after all.

I was in England when Charles was invested Prince of Wales.. I think he was 16 at the time. It was a big event on TV.
I remember when Elizabeth put the crown on his head you could read his lips saying 'thanks mom.'
