but a Hispanic person in Arizona is now largely a “white” person who MAY speak Spanish and who MAY have a better than average tan.

Hispanics are better at becoming Americans and adapting American values, in other words joining the melting pot that so many others have done. It seems to me that some Blacks just don't want to assimilate, they thinks it's bad.

The 2020 Trump Rally in Tucson had a LOT of Hispanics. A lot of enthusiastic, happy, CHEERING Hispanics! There were some Hispanic teens (18-20) in front of us in the line. They said their moms didn’t want them to go to the rally. Their dads supported their going. And they were HUGE Trump fans.

It wasn't that long ago that the Italians were the "other", and before them it was the Irish.

It seems clear to me that what makes someone "white" is whether or not they integrate themselves into American society.
