I fear that you’re probably right. What we are seeing here is the new normal. The genie is out of the bottle, so to speak.
We just assume we’ve been on our last airplane. We’ve visited Seattle twice, South Padre Island, TX, Idaho, Montana, Chicago (several times) since the pandemic started and we always drove. BTW, we never wore masks except for one costco trip - where they were constantly chasing me down in aisles where only my wife and I were in the aisle, but they needed to make me put my mask back on.
We’ve adapted. Fortunately we moved “off grid for the most part” back in 2011 so we’re totally set up for the “new normal”.
