...let’s not give the leftist victory.

We got into this situation by accepting RINOs instead of heading them off at the pass. Cruz needs to go. Let him work off his "mistake" from the outside and if he does, then let him back in.

appearing to despise his voting base

Appearing to? It's a feature among our ruling class.

“Biden won 81,283,098 votes, or 51.3 percent of the votes cast.”

https://www.cfr.org/blog/2020-election-numbers

I don’t think more than a million of those “votes” were fraudulent.

“Did he do that fake stutter of his when he spoke?”

Do you think that’s fake too? That’s always bothered me about him.

Ought to be good fodder for campaign ads for whoever is running against Cruz in the primary.

After this stupidity from Cruz, and his 13 year old daughter torching him in public, I’m now a De Santis guy.

“Opportunist? Damn, he is wading through the D.C. swamp and before there was ever a Donald Trump, Cruz referred to the swamp/deep state as the Warshington Cartel.”

Nothing personal, but neither you or anyone else will be able to redeem Cruz, not on this site. Maybe there are some country club sites or something where they’re not ready to take off Cruz’s head, but on this site, ONLY Cruz can redeem himself. As I’ve noted above, it still might be possible for that to happen, but the clock is working against him.

Also keep in mind that his voting record isn’t the issue here. The issue is whether he can turn out his base (you know, Trump supporters, the ones he called terrorists) to hold his seat in November 2024, in TEXAS (not in W. Virginia or South Dakota). We’re not all that red here, so conservatives have little margin for error, and he’s already used up that margin several times over.

Bottom line, and I think most here will agree - if he’s on the November 2024 ballot, I will vote for him (as I understand the Left) and I suspect most others will vote for him (although not all Texans here)...but he’ll still lose his Senate seat by 10 points, as things stand today. And that will because a huge number of us ‘terrorists’ will not turn out for him. It will have NOTHING AT ALL to do with his voting record or the Democrat on the ticket.

“Cruz is easy to like for those of us on the right, so it’s always painful to watch when he has one of those “moments” where he figuratively pours gas on himself and lights a match. “

He’s a freaking politician. Talking out of both sides of his mouth is normal. Getting called out for it is another thing. As long as he votes with the Conservatives, I’m good.

There are those who will viciously attack Ted Cruz but willingly accept the likes of Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham or even Mitt Romney

Yeah. We call them RINOs. I don't see anyone here who has any truck with that gang of three. Maybe Ted just made [yet another] mistake. He needs to straighten out and fly right.

“Number 3 in your second set is something I have never forgiven Cruz for. I was actually supporting Cruz in the primaries until that moment. I think it was outside Chicago and it was clear that innocent Trump supporters were attacked. Yet Cruz blamed Trump. Cruz is a weasel. I knew it right then.”

Agree, I also remember that as Chicago.

It’s amazing, but all that Cruz had to do was NOT attack Trump supporters and he could have followed directly in Bush Sr’s steps - where he despised the guy at the top (Reagan), but knew enough to keep quiet about it. But then Bush Sr. had Lee Atwater as his ‘focus group’, and Lee likely saved him from himself dozens of times.

Regardless of all the hubbub. Cruz will win his seat again. I think all this is nonsense.

Cruz was our tea party candidate after a successful term as solicitor general, now our senator.

He was one of the FEW that stood in the senate and objected to the certification of the 2020 election of Joe Biden.

He still has my support.

“I just don’t understand all the severe annmosity toward Cruz.”

It’s very simple - other than the White House, the big power center in DC is the Senate. Our attacks on Cruz are based on the fact that he WILL lose in 2024 as he cannot turn out Trump’s base, as things stand. He had his shot, but cannot seem to understand that he cannot win without Trump voters, regardless of what he thinks of Trump.

“Appearing to? It’s a feature among our ruling class.”

Not everyone, certainly NOT Trump. And most who do despise us hide it sufficiently. Cruz is flat-out siding with the enemy against his base. Not good.

“Regardless of all the hubbub. Cruz will win his seat again. I think all this is nonsense.”

I guess that’s where we differ. He had to be BAILED OUT by Trump in 2018 and still only managed to win by a whisker.

You may not like it, and I may not like it (in fact, I hate it*), but a LARGE PORTION of the Republican base is willing to let Democrats win, if they feel insulted by an otherwise conservative candidate. And in Texas, that is spells political death.

*among other things, that mindset cost us two Senate seats in Georgia. DC would be far different now if we won either of them.

oh i am still willing to give cruz the benefit of the doubt, but he has got to be ever more vigilant and stalworth? if that is the right word...

his actions must be threefold from now on... our representatives must act nobly and behave humbly instead of the other way around.
